I am not a doctor but I can tell a few advantages which I am recipient everyday.:
1. Firstly, it helps in digestion process.
2. All parts of the body are properly toned up
3. Problems like pains in leg, back pain disappear once exercise is done.
4. It keeps your mind clear during exercise when you really concentrate that that helps in clear thinking.
5. YOu really stay young.

And don't forget that it relieves stress! And is known to help headaches - endorphins.

When I bother going to the "Ed-yu-kay-shun" Institute, it's normally a 15 minute walk there and home, as well as walking around whilst I am... imprisoned there...
So yes, accumulatively, I suppose I do some sort of recommended amount of daily exercise.
Then there's always the "after school workout" with a Master Piece I know and love.

Of late, there has been sickness in the family, Mal and I have been staying home being good little parents to the sick. But school, goes for about 40 weeks, 5 days a week, 6 hours a day... Every 10 weeks, a term, we get a 2 week holiday.. and about 6 weeks between the last and first terms... =D That's how school works over here

You must have a lenient education system. You mentioned in another post that you really should be getting back (wait you have summer school too - do you go year round). Do they trust you to do home study?

Excellent contribution, can you elaborate? In what ways do they help us - how do they keep us healthy?

Yay - don't know if you'll see this - check back - but what discipline do you follow?

At least twenty minutes, three times a week at least - you can build up to more but when you're just starting out you don't want to plateau - if you're trying to lose weight - or lose motivation too soon. Which is also why you want to do different activities - bike one day - walk the next - another bonus to 'shaking up' your excercise routine is that even if you're doing something great like biking or jogging - if that's all your doing your body - muscles get too used to it and such. You can change your body's adaptation period by varying activity, intensity, duration and such. Also, activities like Pilates and Tai Chi - yoga can actually enhance your running and lower the risk of injury.

I try to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Usually I lift weights and alternate running or riding my bike. Sometimes I dance or do other forms of strength training that do not involve weights (like push-ups or sit ups or various yoga moves). I always stretch. I try to do as much cardio as I can.

Dont forget to stretch after you've exercised, so that you can get most of the Lactic acid out of your muscles....or you'll be sore and stiff for a little longer than if you didn't. ^_^
maybe you already do, but most poeple forget to stretch AFTER they've exercised...

Your so right -- stretching is important and my least favourite part of excercise - especially now!

Yes, I do exercise for min 30 minutes a day. I go for brisk walk in the morning and do some exercises in the gym like pedalling, tummy twisting...I have a 2 yr old son and he makes me to run from pillar to post round the clock which itself is a great exercise ( just kidding)

I have to put my hands up to admitting that I DON'T do at least 30 minutes exercise a day. I do about 10-15 minutes on my stepper when I remember to, otherwise I'm really bad at exercise. I must keep reminding myself to do MORE exercise as my doctor always tells me it's essential to control my diabetes! Thanks for the discussion, it's given me a kick to go do some exercise right now!

I used to do a lot of strength training, especially when I had a boyfriend who was a trainer. In fact, I used to be a little addicted to excercise and the rush that accompanied it. I made mix tapes and did my own aerobics/dance hour - a few times a day. I actually got too thin - although 115-120 which is a healthy weight for a lot of women. I lost my period and my hair darkened all over.
Now, I have a baby and although I'm active all day, I have no organized routine. Sometimes I have him watch me do one of my cardio tapes, or my yoga - which I do for strength and relaxation. More regularly, I dance with my baby, walk with him when its not too hot and do my household chores. I can't wait to get back to more regular excercise - I want to start going for hike/explorations as there is so much to explore in my state.
