There is now a vaccine that reduces a woman's risk of getting cervical cancer. This is so amazing to me. I never would have dreamed a cancer prevention by a vaccine in my lifetime. I want to get the vaccine if my doctor will let me even though I am in my 40s. Will you encourage your daughter to get the vaccine? Will you get it for yourself Mom?

I had cervical cancer about 3 years ago. While my kids are only 4 and 6 I can't wait to get the vaccine for both of them at the very earliest time.
I think there is a reason the FDA specified recommended ages. I think it doesn't work when women are already at or beyond child-bearing age but it doesn't hurt to ask. As for me personally, I don't think I will be asking for it even though I've had the lower half of my cervix cut out.

You can get an infection that is similar to a cold in your cells and it can leave scarring and it's totally benign. It also goes away on its own so maybe that's what you had. I'm so sorry but I can't remember the term. My ObGyn brought it up when she gave me the first colposcopy and before she knew my results.

I actually had cervical cancer in 1988 and am astounded at how quickly they found out so much about it. I'm not sure if I will encourage them or not but I will encourage them to find out more about it. I dont think I'm eligible at 43 and having already had cervical cancer but I may be wrong.

I think this vaccine is Brilliant! My mum had cervical cancer which has now developed into secondary lung cancer. I myself was diagnosed at the age of 19,through various treatments and surgery i am now a happy 37yr female. I have 2 daughters and when i saw it on the news my first thought was , Excellent, my girls will be first in line lol its the best news ever, i always sat back and was quie worried at the thought of my girls inheriting what i did from my mum, now my mind is just that little bit more at ease :)
