I would like to start a thread for those trying to lose weight to post their daily/weekly struggles and triumphs. I have been doing this in a notebook and would love to see what works for others. I will also post my daily/weekly struggles/accomplishments. Today (1/11/07) I weigh 201.4. Not good for someone who is 5'2". Weigh in with your weigh in's

I really don't know if anyone would want to post their weight, but I'll post how much I've lost. As of tomorrow I will have lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks. I haven't lost much over the past week, but I'm reducing my calories back to where I think they should be and hopefully I'll lose more by next week. I took in 930 calories per day the first week, then switched to 1000/day, and have switched back to 930 as of today. Counting calories is a pain, but it's well worth it in the end.

No, I'm going to a weight loss clinic and they put me on 1000 per day. I went there two years ago and lost 40 lbs. They started me off at 930 calories per day for the first month, then moved me to 1,000. Once I hit my goal they put me at 1200 for maintenance. Then due to a series of unfortunate events, I had to quit going and put most of the weight back on. I now weigh 152 lbs. I had lost down to 130, but I had surgery and two weeks later my husband was in a head-on collision and spent months in the hospitals and rehab so with traveling back and forth so much, it was hard to eat the right kinds of foods.

I don't mind posting my weight because it gives me yet another reason to want to lose it. I could see where somebody would be uncomfortable with posting it though. I heard that intaking less then 1200 calories a day is unhealthy. Are you worried you're not getting enough calories a day??

I'm the one who's suffering from being overweight. As far as i remember, i was fat since i was 10. I had too much cakes, sweets and ice cream. Well, sweets and desserts are my favourite food, soda and fruit juice also. When i was 12, i was 165cm tall and 65kg heavy. My maximum weight was when i was 15, it was 78 kilograms. I've tried many kinds of dieting. The minimum weight i have got was 55. But when i stopped dieting then it turned up around 60. A year ago, i thought i could keep my weight at 60kg--- but i was wrong. I started drinking milkshake, iced cocoa, a piece of cake also fast food such as Pizza, KFC and frozen meal almost every single day. Afterwards i gained weight into 65 kilograms. That's horrible. 2weeks ago, i took some time, staying at home, and started my diet again. I hate excercising! but i have to do it everyday. And the progression was very slow because my metobolism is now poorer than it used to be. My menu is like a cup of yoghurt, 150-180 cal,or a mixed salad,or a can of tuna, or an orange per meal. Now i lost 2.5 kilograms. I really feel good. I hope i'll be able to go on this diet for a few months until i start my work in April. I want to be 50 kilograms by that time. Wish me luck! 1 kg per 1 week 10 kg in 12 weeks, is that possible?

Great to have you join us. As far as excercising, find an activity that you LIKE to do and start with 10 min in the morning and 10 min at night. At least you are doing something. Dance in your living room or something to some great music. I like to work out but find it hard to find the time to do it. Post your daily or weekly rants, accomplishments and what has worked and not worked for you. I've intended this to be a support group of sorts. I think if we girls stick together we can accomplish wonderful things. I'd also like to see if we can do before pics too. Would anyone be opposed to that??

I just started the South Beach diet with my mom so we can both slim up our waists, and also for me, my thighs ;( Has anyone else tried the South Beach diet? The first three days were easy for me, but today I started craving sweets and breads, arrrgggghh, my weakness :(

i have the book and the new job i'm starting i get an hour for lunch so i think february is going to be book month for me beginning with the south beach book. I'm afraid to try it because i LOVE pasta and bread. What are some of the things you can eat on there? Isn't it like the atkins diet?

So, today has been horrible!!! I was sitting in class, eatting a healthy snack, and all of a sudden I started getting this pains in my stomach. I thought they would go away, but they only continued to get worse. I left class feeling horribly sick, tried to see when I got home, but kept waking up from the pains. I'm not sure what's wrong with me, but I can't keep anything down. My snack didn't stay down for to long after I got home, and now nothing but water will stay in my stomach. This is just to weird and very very painful. I don't have medical insurance so I hope this goes away by tomorrow. If not I'll have to sit in a free clinic for hours and hours and hours. I'm not gaining weight, but this is no way I want to do it!! I wish I could have a carrot now more then ever. Well, wish me luck. I hope this is just a 24 hour thing.

I'm sick too now! not long after i posted to you, my stomache started to feel a little queezy. Well I started throwing up not long after that. I feel horrible this morning but it's Saint's day at work and someone bought me a t-shirt especially for it so I'm hoping it will go away.

Man. That sucks. you should probably talk to your doctor about what foods are best for you and your stomach. It's more important for you to be healthy than to lose weight. Get with a nutitionalist or something to map out a good plan for you to follow. It will help with your stomache problems. I'm better now that i slept most of the day but I'm wired and can't sleep tonight. I'm sure I'll get to sleep eventually but I hate being like this. At least I've stopped throwing up though :)

Well, I endded up going to the hospital because the pain was way to crazy. I was there forever, and pretty much the lining in my stomach is messed up. I'm producing to much acid, and that's why I'm in so much pain. I'm on a liquid diet for the next two days. I can't eat anything but things like jello. :( The pains have almost gone away, but they are still there once in a while. It's horrible. I hope you feel better!!

It's been a week, so that means check in time. ;) Last week I weighed in at 180, and today my current weight is 178. That's a two pound weight loss! Yay. Although I'm losing the weight slowly I'm just glad I'm losing the weight. Hopefully I can keep this up. If I've lost two more pounds next week I'll be one happy camper. I get worried that the weight I'm losing is so small that one mess up might make me gain it all back. eep! I hope not. I actually had a couple of drinks during my bowling game, but I still was able to lose those two pounds. Keep your fingers crossed for me guys! 01-30-07

you are doing better than me. i found a book today called the carbohydrate addicts diet book and i'm going to read that. i'm holding steady at 202 but not really giving much effort right now. I'm so mad at myself because my husband is giving me a new wardrobe as my birthday gift and i have to spend all my money on fat clothes!! I now have a new problem to deal with and that's buying clothes to flatter a short fat figure. that's not an easy task. I start my new job monday and i want to dress for the job i want not for the job i have. i want to look sharp and professional. i have so much that it's overwelming me right now. i know these things seem tiny but for me they are not. i just cleaned out my closet. i have about 10 peices of clothes if that, that actually fit me. 2 pairs of jeans 2 dress pants and a few skirt suits that look horrible on me--why didn't i get rid of those too???? Anyway, I NEED clothes at this point and i'm just annoyed at myself that another month has come and gone and i've done nothing. I feel hopeless! I've been watching FIT tv and saw something for all star workouts so i'm going to record those to dvr and try doing a few of them. they teach belly dancing and kick boxing and all kinds of a variety of things. i'm pretty excited to do that. oh well. i'll report back in on sunday after i've shopped. we'll see. i'm sure it's just going to be more of a thing for me to say "i need to lose weight" and then fix a big bowl of spaghetti and potato salad. :(

ok! i'm holding steady at 202 still. not great but not bad either. i am swollen and i dont' know why so maybe i weigh less than that when i loose my water retention. I am starting the carbohydrate addicts diet. it seems to be really easy. you eat low carb for breakfast lunch and a snack and then for supper you can eat what you want for 1 hour. the trick is you only have 60 min to complete your meal. after that you have to go back to low carb. the good thing about this that i like is that my husband doesn't eat green veggies so i can still have my carbs at supper time. you are also permitted dessert as long as you eat it within 60 min.

Oh girl, don't get so down on yourself! That's how we defeat ourselves you know? We're going to have bad days, weeks, or maybe even months but we're going to get through this. (you can tell me this when I get down on myself lol) Make a deal with yourself to work out at least three to four days a week. Write down an exersize plan that you will follow. If you're tired one day you have either 4 or 3 free days for your body to rest. I found that writing down an exersize plan really works for me. I'm not wondering what I should do that particular day because it's right in front of me. If you happen to over eat one day you'll have the exersize to balance you out. The weight may come off slow but I know you can do it!

I really want to lose weight...I've been chubby all my life! I'm currently 5"4 and I weight 140 lbs. my goal is to be twenty pounds or thirty pounds lighter...I've tried, dieting, pills, exercise but I just end up having a yoyo diet again because I cna't seem to make things work..I really do need some discipline I plan to enroll to boxing this year at leas I can do my exerfcises regularly...I've tried reductil but it's way too expensive and I just gained all the pounds back..there really isn't no miracle pill but I did lose 10 lbs. in two weeks with it though good luck to us weight watchers!:D

Well, I guess losing weight and keeping it off is more like a lifestyle then a fad diet. I've tried all kinds of diets, and I've realized that I just need to make life long changes with the way I eat. If I'm upset I eat a lot more, and I find myself eatting really bad during the summer. I work a job that is off season during winter and spring. During the summer we're open everyday. That's when I eat out twice a day. I need to stop putting fast food junk in my body, and start working on healthy eatting. Feel free to join us on our dieting journals here. The more the merrier!

Hi, I think I will join in from time to time, I need a post Christmas makeover. I am 5'7" and weigh 210, though most would guess me at around 185. My arthritic knees would love to have me lose weight. My main job is in a school so I am off in the summer. I lost weight walking my sister's two dogs once or twice a day, no other changes. At school, I can get a HUGE meal, with lots of homemade stuff for $1.50, that is one downfall. Friday is treat day, and that is the next pitfall. I buy pop, because the water there tastes lousy, so that is the third problem. What works for me? Protein breakfasts. I bought some inexpensive diet frozen dinners to save money, and you know what--they are very satisfying, I will keep that up, or like you said, soup at hand or other portion controlled soup. I treat myself with lowfat 100 % natural yogurt on frozen berries--yummy, and healthy too. I will keep an eye on this discussion.

Hey, welcome to the group. Reading this intro I have to ask myself, why do they make unhealthy food so easy to purchase but healthy stuff so expensive/ hard? Blah Good luck with the weight loss!

I'm craving food like crazy right now!!! I don't know why. I ate a really nice dinner, but all I want is some curly fries. I know I would ruin my diet by having them so I won't go for it, but these cravings really bite right now. : / Today I had some carrots for breakfast, a protein bar for lunch, and a lean piece of steak/ baked beans/ broccoli for dinner. That hits my calories right on the spot, but I don't feel satisfied. It's driving me mad right now.

I haven't posted on here in a while. Life has gotten in the way of anything remotely fun. I haven't done extreme amounts of losing, but as of right now I'm 167. It's better then 170 so I guess I can't complain. :) I hope to lose five more pounds before the 16th. I want to weigh 162 so I can shove it in my ex's face. I know I know...bad reason but I'm being honest. :P lol Wish me luck. 03/09/07

Just checking in. So, it's been two weeks (at least I think it has) since I last weighed in. I was at 185 lbs and now I'm at 180. Whoow! A five pound loss. Now I just have to get over that 180 hump. I always seem to have a problem getting over the "tens" hump. When I weighed 190 it took me forever to keep it below that mark. My stomach is doing better, but I still can't eat like I use to. The doctor gave me a list of things I can't have, and it's a total bummer. You think it would be good to help me lose weight, but it's a hassle. I just have to get my stomach back to regular working condition and I'll be feeling much better! I'm going to put the date on here to help me remember when I last weighed in. :D 01-23-07

Ok...I really want to lose some weight. I have wanted to do this for over a year now, but I've finally started to become way more serious. Why? Honestly, I'm just sick of being over weight. I think I let myself go because of depression, but now I want to get fit again. Oddly enough I've been given extra strength to lose weight from a bad relationship I'm still trying to come out of. How's that for ironic huh? Lets get down to business here. I'm 5'6 and weigh 185 lbs. My current struggles are portion control, and I need to get a better hang on counting calories! :) My weight loss goal is 45 lbs.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm heading to the store right now to buy some salad and soup. lol I don't have much money to be going out on lunch everyday at work anyway this week. I already needed to pack my lunch, so why not give this a try? I'll let you know how it goes.

I was sooooo bad today. I had my usuall half a bagel with margerine and jam and 1/2 cup of coffee with splenda and cream. then someone brought cupcakes! yummy little tasty pop in your mouth and eat half a dozen because they are so good cupcakes! so i had about 8 (they were minis but still i know that's alot). then for lunch we decided to order out so I split a roast beef poboy with someone. it was dripping with gravy and mayo and lettuce tomatoes and pickles. it was sooo yummy. then tonight my mother in law made what i affectionately call "monster meatball spagetti" with potato salad. i so gained back any weight i lost. So i'm sitting here drinking my second cozmo regretting what a bad day of great food i had. tomorrow will be better.

Alright, I haven't posted here in a little while. Sorry sorry...life got all busy and such. You know who it goes. So I weighed myself right now and I'm down to 170 lbs. I'm pretty happy. I have only 30 more lbs to go for my goal. I've started toning a little which may add weight, but I'm already sick of my arm flab. I dislike it very much. : / Meals have been going ok. I found that with a low cal diet I can still enjoy some foods I love, stay healthy, and lose the weight. I'm sure if I was eatting better stuff I would lose faster, but I'd go crazy if I gave up everything I loved. So it's 02/15/07. Here's to another two lbs next week!

it is 2/19/07 and last week today i weighed in at 206.8. today i weigh 201.8!!!! Yay me!!!!!
