I rate every response that is correctly answered. Rating helps others by increasing their earning, how I don't know exactly but I do know that it does effect the earning so it's better to rate the good and right responses positive and the crap and stupid / affensive responses as negative.

Oh one thing more, you should always select a 'Best Response' as that also helps others in their earning. And if you selected people for best response then there's a great chance they might respond to your other topics.

I do select best response but do not rate and even not aware if that helps.
