visual basic,Ms acsess questions

guys i have a visual basic 6.0 version and i recently bought office xp i recently begun to learn visual basic when i came across the database controls where i linked the visual basic data control to ms acsess file .mdb when i tried to run it did not recognise the database what is the problem is VB not compatible with acsess or do i do not have the sufficient version of ms acsess or VB This has halted my learning process here how can i overcome this problem? can anyone please recomend a solution? is there any plugin or add on so that i can rectify my problem? Did you ever face a problem like this?

You can download latest service pack (i think it is Visual Basic 6 SP6) from Microsoft's site. I had a similar issue but it was 2 years back and i think i solved it after installing this service pack, but i am not at all sure about that. As i told you it was two years back and i don't remember well, but just give it a try.

No problem in installing SP6 if you have no other service packs installed. I am sure you can install SP6.

well will it work if there are no previous service packs installed? because i don't think i did so well i will try it thanks!!

ok what is your access version ? if higher then access 97 then you have problem with vb 6. to solve this is to convert your access database to ms access 97 format. select tool-database utilities - convert database. hope this help you. if not post it here. thank you.

Its XP version i need a plugin on this or any one little talented may have solved the problem guys this is ......ing me

that way i tell you to convert it to 97 format. not your operating system but your database file.

i am using the same combination from past 5 years and i have never seen this problem, just to check the connection please do one thing , make new project and create a test database , are reconnect it . i think it will help you, if you have more problem plase pm me, i will manage to do something more....

hello, first what is your MS access version if 97 update it to higher version, if not maybe the problem is in the process of connection your control to the database and is tier an error message

hey its office xp i mentioned it above i stated that above i can even install 2000 version but if i get for the xp version i will be good well yesterday i installed the sp6 but even an error message is there can anyone give me ultimate solution
