guys i have a visual basic 6.0 version and i recently bought office xp
i recently begun to learn visual basic when i came across the database controls where i linked the visual basic data control to ms acsess file .mdb
when i tried to run it did not recognise the database
what is the problem
is VB not compatible with acsess or do i do not have the sufficient version of ms acsess or VB
This has halted my learning process here
how can i overcome this problem?
can anyone please recomend a solution?
is there any plugin or add on so that i can rectify my problem?

You can download latest service pack (i think it is Visual Basic 6 SP6) from Microsoft's site. I had a similar issue but it was 2 years back and i think i solved it after installing this service pack, but i am not at all sure about that. As i told you it was two years back and i don't remember well, but just give it a try.

No problem in installing SP6 if you have no other service packs installed. I am sure you can install SP6.

ok what is your access version ? if higher then access 97 then you have problem with vb 6. to solve this is to convert your access database to ms access 97 format.
select tool-database utilities - convert database.
hope this help you. if not post it here.
thank you.
