I think Tendulkar is ahead by far...
Ofcourse, injuries hav kept him out of the side for a while, but within the blink of an eye,you will see him bounce back to form.He has done it before and he'll do it again.I dont want to hurt anyone, but to me,Dhoni is not good at all.I think even Dinesh Karthik is a much better player, which throws him out of the scene when it comes to being the best batsman for India....

If you consider the current form, then we cannot count Yuvraj because he has been out of action for sometime. That leaves Sachin, Dhoni and Saurav. If you simply benchmark against the last series then it is Saurav. If your question is about the best batsman who is currently in the time irrespective of time, then I guess you know the answer is Sachin.... do you want any reasons for that?

At present none of the batsman in the playing 11 is in their best. But to say among them i think Ganguly, sachin are perfonimg well. Yuvraj was at his best when he was injured if he was there in the team, the situation would havebeen different in SA.

Best batsmen just don't blast and get out. They grind the opposition so much that it becomes easier for the following batsmen to score freely. Also, you are not considered as a best batsmen if you have a poor overseas average, as performing in alien conditions is what really counts. And best batsmen concentrate on building partnerships more than concentrating on their own score. More importantly, they have a good defense. They can confidently play down safely a vicious bouncer even in extreme fatigue at the end of the day hurled by the world's fastest bowler surrounded by close in fielders. You guessed right, it's none other than Rahul Dravid, the wall. Behind his next door boy looks, there is another man with nerves of steel for others to emulate. Others have built a better reputation simply by the reassurance that the other end is safe in his hands.
