I borrowed mine to a friend, and then saved it for awhile. after we had kids, i had baptism gowns made for my kids, and the friends kids that borrowed my dress. I figured it would be a good keepsake for them, and I'm pretty sure my daughter would not have wanted it!

After the wedding, what i did wih my wedding dress is to have it dry cleaned and have it packed properly. Me and my hubby got married in the philippines, since im coming back home with my hubby here in the UK so i have to carry it with me as well, its more than 3 1/2 kilos then after we arrive here it remained sealed for at least a year then during or first year anniversary i need to open it up for my hubby's side of family to see it fully.

My mom has a weeding dress before, the one that she used for her wedding. But she already lost the dress due to a storm that wrecked our house when I was a baby. I guess it would be better if it was placed in a right place.

After my first wedding, I had my gown professionally cleaned and sealed into a box that, when you opened the top, allowed you to see the bodice of the dress on a form, through a clear window. I kept it like that for years and years, not knowing what I'd do with it. After my divorce, I was less enamored about keeping it but thought my daughters might like it. Last year, I asked them if either of them wanted me to keep it (I've remarried... but I DID wear it when I married their father almost 20 years ago). Their relationship with their father has gone pretty sour over the past few years and they both said they would never wear the dress, even if I kept it. So, I finally ended up donating it to the Drama department of their high school who assured me that they could find many uses for a gown (they have almost no budget). It seems like a strange way to get rid of a wedding dress but at least I felt like it was going to be helpful in some way.

that was good of you to do. i don't think keeping it sealed in a box is a great idea. it takes up space, and 90% of the time it gets lost in a move, or thrown out because of the space it took up.. most of the time a daughter these days do not appreciate the gown their mom wore!

Most times put it into a box and forget about it or try to sell it

but really, do people have just 1000's of dresses cleaned and put away? there must be millions! i thought of doing that, but really my daughter would not have wanted it. so i didn't keep it,, thats what pictures are for anyway. i do have the baptizm gowns to have the memory from, and maybe they (the children) will want them for their own.

My mother-in-law made my wife's dress. Being a very practical women she made it a slightly off-white color so with the veil removed it would not look like a wedding dress. With the veil removed it looks like a formal gown.
As a consequence my wife did wear her wedding dress to several different formal events we attended.
