I just have a question for you all. Would you or could you abort a child that you new was going to be mental candicap or would be born with something seriously wrong with it.
I know that you realy couldn't say until that time came but with all of the modern technoligy, would you do it thinking the way that you think right now?
What if you were raped, could you do it then?

Yes I do agree to on this point as there is no way to give birth to such child which may be burden later.
About getting pregnant from raped why one should give birth to such child, they should do the abortion as early as possible.

I couldn't have an abortion if the child was deformed or mentally retarded but I really don't know what I would do if I was raped and became pregnant.

I see abortion as a sin. It is better to prevent self from pregnancy than go for abortion later on. If God has gifted us a child, we must accept. The total mistake is from our side behind a birth of child, so taking full responsibility we should not promote abortion and give birth. The society will remain as it is. People will be commenting on each others. It is human nature. We should question ourself and take decision in positive way.

Thank you for commenting and I understand what you are saying but as a women, I don't know what i would do if I was raped but as for the child having something wrong with it, I would probably keep it.

I defiantly liked your come back on this. You are right. I believe that no person has the right to rape and that it should be up to the individual on rather or not to abort the child. It would be hard to keep something that is a reminder of the pain the you endured.

I have no qualms with abortion in the first place. I have no intention of having any children anytime in the near future, if ever. So if happen to find myself pregnant, I wouldn't think twice about termination.
As for whether or not someone should terminate a fetus that is going to be severely disabled, deformed, or retarded, I think most definately. What kind of a life would that child have being in pain all the time? Why would any parent knowingly inflict that kind of life on their offspring? Quality of life should always be taken into consideration. I think it's selfish for a parent to allow an excessively handicapped child to be born and have to live through such hardship. It's no better than having done that to your child yourself. Would you willingly lobotomize your child at birth? Or slice open it's sinus cavity? Or remove several bones from it's body? Then why would you allow a child to be born with these afflictions?

but you could have an abortion which requires the baby to be cut into pieces and vacuumed out.
\if you don't want any kids then keep you legs closed using abortion as birth control is sick.
If you had say a 8 year old daughter and they were in a tragic accident that left them mentally or physiclly handicapp would you kill them. it's selfish to have an abortion just because your to immature to accept that life changes and you don't want to change your partying ways. Grow up and have some sense.

I am disgusted and offended that you would accuse me of being immature, promiscuous and a "party" chick simply because I choose to remain child-free. It is my right as a human, a woman and an American to do so and I'll be d@mned if I allow anyone to take my rights away. You are in no position to tell me what I can and cannot do with my life and my body as I am not effecting or hurting you or anyone else. You have no right to tell me that I cannot engage in love-making with my future husband because I never want children. Not only that, but I never said that abortion was a form of birth control, it is a last resort when birth control fails. Or are you against all forms of birth control?
Also, killing an eight-year-old child is murder. Removing a fetus before it becomes a cognitive being is not. Allowing a child to be born, knowing it would leave a depleted lifestyle is selfish. Murdering the victim of an unfortunate accident is stupid. Especially if it's something as superficial as paraplegia.
Try to be a bit more educated before you start spouting your opinions, stereotypes, preconception and propaganda as if it were fact and truth.

I could not have an abortion myself but my cousin has and she said that a part of her regrets it but another part of her is glad. The reason behind this is because she became pregnant when she was fifteen years old, she is now twenty and has went on to finish school and build a life. She now has two kids with her husband and the descision that she made, she believes was for the best. If she wouldn't have had the abortion, she would have never finished school. I understand that a lot of people say that this is not right and that she could have finished school, but let's face it, it is hard to do with kids. I have three kids of my own and I never finished school because of it. I was a single mother for a few years and it is not fun. I am only twenty-two years old and I got lucky to have found my husband but before I was working two full time jobs and one part time job, it was fun or easy and I never got to see my children. My sister practically raised my kids because I was at work all the time. I wouldn't trade my kids for the world but it hasn't been easy. What would have happened if the children would have ended up on the streets or if the situation would have went terribly wrong. I guess that there is always DHS custody but who would want to see their kids there? I have mixed feelings towards abortion.

Even if I were pregnant with a child who would be born damaged, I would not abort. If an evil man raped me and I became pregnant, I would not abort. Killing an innocent because of his or her mental or physical handicap is wrong as is killing an innocent because of his or her father is wrong. You cannot punish a child for the sins of the father, and I believe it refers to those unborn as well as those who live. Mind you, I would try to find who the scoundrel is, if he had grabbed me from behind, and blindfolded me, and would sue him to pay for the education, etc. of my child until he or she is of legal age. That would really hurt him more than my removing the problem.

Although I am very much pro-choice, I personally do not think I would terminate because the child was handicapped. Most conditions can't be detected until pretty late in a pregnancy and I would not want to go through a late term abortion. However, if it were a condition that made the child incompatible with life such as the various neural tube defects, and the child would surely die after a few painful hours of life; I'd probably terminate even if it were later in the pregnancy. It seems far more humane to help the child pass than to birth it knowing doctors must try to save it no matter the pain it is in.
