if it's something I have to put together, I usually don't look at the manual. first thing I do at the sign of a problem is to look at a picture of whatever it is and usually I got it by then.
rarely do I use the manuals. they're usually more complicated than they need to be.

i read manuals most of the time, especially if i have a new item and i want to maximize its use. but i don't read it before assembling process. i find it better if i read as i put the items together. i read per step, then i'd assemble then read again.
there are times when i feel bored that i really read manuals from cover to cover.

I always read the directions at least a couple of times before I begin! I want to know what I'm in for before I get started!

i do sometimes doesnt read the manuals ,it can be time consuming.sometimes i go with the manuals as i will do it step by step as the manual.will not read the full manual first but wread and assemble step by step.Other wise you may skip some steps and will have to do it again and my memory power is not that great.I have run into trouble and worked for several days until i could find out the problem when i assembled my computer and ups.

I rarely read the manual before assembling anything unless I think it's way beyond me. I don't generally read the manually before using something new either. I usually wait till I run into trouble and hope that I at least had the sense to stop what I was doing soon enough to avoid undoing too much of what I've done.

For me, it sort of depends on what it is. If it's something that's pretty obvious, then I don't bother with the manual unless I have a problem, but if it's something really complicated, then I always go over the manual first. I usually don't exactly read it cover to cover, but I kind of skim through it to get the idea, then read in more detail if I have issues.
