i hate all those stupid plastic bags. I thought they were so bad for our environment. you can only put a couple things in these bags, and more trips to the house.

I went on holiday to Ireland, where they have put a tax on plastic bags, put some shopping in paper bags and the bottom fell out of the bag, doesn't happen so much with plastic bags because you can tell the breaking strain better than you can with paper. I did some research on bags, both plastic and paper, and found that destroying paper bags is more harmful to the environment and global warming that plastic, which can be buried, paper bags are usually burned. Also there are lots of environmental friendly biodegradeable plastic bags, Somerfield supermarkets only use these in U.K. and I understand a number of other supermarkets are using them or going to use them soon. I think that we should all encourage the use of Biodegradeable Plastic bags (which usually can be re-used several times) instead of any other type of bag (paper or plastic).

I hate them too! I would say take your own bags to the store. It's well worth it in the long run.

Plastic bags are not at all a good option because it is a polymer and will never decompose or brek down like other substances. It can stay in soil forever without being decomposed. If burnt it produces harmful oxides and other gasous pollutants which are harmful for our enviornment as well as human beings. Paper is a good option as it is biodegradable. Better than plastic, easy to use
