I used to take a small cup of something every evening. It was just minerals and vitamine (or so I though). I made my blood thicken and made me really sick. So now I only eat / drink what the doc tell me to :-)

I agree. Don't let one bad experience turn you off natural medicine. I tell my clients that I'm not out to convince them of anything. I'm just there to give them the info to make an informed decision.

I do both. I have a chronic illness so I need prescription meds. I could probably change my diet and eliminate a medication or two, but I choose not to.
I use Echinacea. I don't care what anyone else says, it works! All members of our family use it and it definitely fights off a cold if you take it at the first sign of a cold. Echinacea tea is the best. I also drink herbal teas to help my digestive system because I have IBS and my stomach get irritated a lot. I also take Acid Dophilous.
I take an herbal PMS formula but not really sure that it works. I have just started using Yam cream to help alleviate cramps (also good for menopause). A doctor took me off my prescription med for cramps because of kidney issues so I had to come up with an alternative. A friend mentioned yam cream. We shall see if it works. My mood has changed since using it.
I would like to try different herbs and supplements but cannot mix them with some meds and cannot take myself off the one medication that is the one that causes complications with other things - Wellbutrin. I am big on supplements like Mag-Citrate (not sure if that is herbal or just a supplement). I do whatever I can within reason and affordability.

Mag-Citrate is Magnesium and Malic Acid combination. It is very good for menstrual pain, leg cramps, and pain. Our town ran out of it (all the stores sold out) and I was without it for a week and boy, did I feel the pain! I had to get some from another town. I certainly noticed the difference without it.
I have the feeling that the yam cream is supposed to affect the hormones. Well, I am breaking out in zits big time and I'm wondering if it is the yam cream. I will ask my friend tomorrow when I see her.

I myself do not take many painkillers. I can take an asprin and it puts me to sleep. I use herbals for my children at times. The greatest thing invented is sleepy time tea. I know of lots of different herbs to help you sleep, I have tried most of them. Valerian, Melatonin..ect. I would much rather take an herbal remedy then a prescription.

God put all the wonderful things on this earth for us to use and to stay healthy. What does your family think people used before man made medicine came along?

My favorite "herb" is tea. But I guess tea doesn't really count. ;-) My second is evening primrose oil. I take it mainly for eczema but it's also been studied for everything from ADHD to Raynaud's. I love evening primrose oil.
