Maybe it's kind of a brain thing, like your brain decides that when you lie down, that's the time to do the thinking or something like that. No, I don't usually have problems with getting to sleep, unless my other half is snoring. You should have a drink of chamomile tea before you go to bed, it's very soothing and should make you sleepy.

Thank you for giving me best response. :)
I put honey in mine, but that'd taste worse if you don't like honey, how about putting 3 sugars in it?

The problem with camomile tea is that it tastes awful.

I have never struggled with insomnia. I am more prone to fall asleep when I do not want. Here is a discussion that talks of some foods and drinks that are supposed to helpful fore relaxing.

I have this happen all the time nanna, if we could figure out the 'why' then we'd probably get a good nights sleep. I can be absolutely exhausted, but then when I crawl into bed it's like I'm instantly awake. Sometimes I think my body clock is just telling me I'm getting older and I don't need as much sleep. My older relatives all used to say they had insomnia too after they got older, who knows, maybe it IS an age thing. (Too bad bedtime doesn't come at 3pm cause I can fall asleep in my chair for sure then, lol.) I read too, until my eyelids start to droop and I know I'm going to fall off to sleep.

i am an insomniac nanancroc. if your condition of not being able to sleep well continues for a long time, then i suggest YOU CONSULT A DOCTOR. it might be an insomnia. an insomnia if left untreated can give you restless nights which can affect your performance at work or in school.
am sharing to you some information on how to drowse to sleep:
1. Eat more carbohydrates at night.
2. Take a warm shower before sleeping. this will help you relax.
3. Eat foods such as fruits or raisins or banana. these have relaxing, de-stressing effects.
4. A cup of warm milk will also help you sleep.
5. Dont stay so long in your room during the day so that your mind will be programed that your room is a room for sleeping.
6. dont oversleep during the day.
7. recall your happy experiences so you will be relaxed
8. If nothing works and you still cant sleep, get out of the bed and watch tv or read a book (like what you do. only get back to bed when you are already sleepy.
i hope am of help to you.

Thank you for this helpful advice, I'm not an insomniac because once I do get to sleep I sleep well. It's just trying to turn my brain off so I can go to sleep that's the problem.

This happens to me alot, it always has, ever since i was young. I am not sure of the reason or of a good cure for it either. Usually I will lie in bed, until I can get my Mind to stop thinking, It takes awhile though, or if I'm desperate and ahve been up for hours staring at the wall, I will either wake up my hubby and have him rub my back, or take a really hot shower, or sometimes, I decide to jsut get up, and get online or clean the house..
