I have heard so many different 'Old Wives Tales' and i sometimes wonder which are Fact or just plain Crap...
Like, If you eat all of your crusts your hair will go curly... you know tales like that..
So i would like to ask you if you know of any 'Old Wives Tales' and whether you think they are Fact or Crap ...
Whats the Best 'Old Wives Tale' you have heard?

I heard the opposite of crazynurse's: carry high is a girl, carrying low is a boy (which in my case happened to be true).
I also heard if you put your wedding ring on a string and hold it over a pregnant belly, if it starts swinging back and forth, it's a boy, if it swings in a circle it's a girl.

Yes i have heard the pregnancy one about carrying high or low ect all though while i was pregnant i beleived it to be nonsense lol.. so i didnt take to much notice, maybe i should have ..but yes is it true if you hold your wedding ring like that over your belly it can determine that..do you know of anyone that it has happened for ?

I hear many each day in my line of work (nursing). Some that I hear most often are:
When a pregnant woman craves sweets it means she will have a girl.
When a pregnant woman carries high, it means the baby will be a boy and if she carries low it will be a girl.
Its bad luck to cut your fingernails on Friday.
I feel that most of these are a bunch of bunk! I have personally seen all of the pregnancy related wives tales proven wrong on numerous occassions!
