I noticed that at the end of every post you are asked to add a tag. Do you really feel tags are necessary? I mean people all ready know what interest them. Someone please tell me what purpose they serve. I feel they are completely useless. Now even though I feel they are useless for some reason I just can't click the skip button. What is that all about. It's like I feel like i'm going to lose money if I don't add a tag. As if that penny or two is really going to make a difference in my life. From what I see each post is woeth about 1/10 of a penny is that true? there is alot of questions in this post but I guess the real question is are tags really necessary.

I was going to ask the same thing actually!
I think it is important to add them when you start a discussion so hopefully more people will be exposed to your discussion but if you're replying to one I'm not sure what importance it has.
Especially where messages/comments are concerned.

That's what I say, Why add a tag in a reply who really searches replies anyway? It's enough trouble just to search discussions. Dig Me?

Tags to reply are also required.because some times u may discuss some other topic which is related to the topic so u need to tag reply also.

I can understand searching the discussion but in a reply what purpose does it serve provided the reply is based on the discussion. Is it really a point where the discussion and reply are that much different that they need different tags.

yest tags are necessary in order to organize discussions and responses and for mylot users to easily find topics. this helps mylot and the users.
as for the money earned, i guess you get 1 cent for every discussion or response but their is really no hard and fast rule on this i guess. This is just based on what people experience here in mylot. they say sometimes you get more than a cent for a discussion if its of good quality.

I don't know about that? Off the record of tags, I have been posting for days and I get a penny for like every 10 lol. I'm not sure maybe I'm just talking because I have a mouth or typing because I have fingers. All I know is I wish I knew what the great algorithm is.

I think they are necessary. I think you get extra money when you put a tag. I used to put skip but then I realized that I was losing. I mean you really are losing anything by putting it. So try to get a little more money by putting a tag.

I think that they correspond back to your own intersts,to help you find posts to respond to also. I think please don't quote me on that.

Well I think that is a good philosophy. However that still does nothing for me when it comes to adding tags to replies. Wait a sec maybe it does. I get it maybe you may feel something should be a tag that I don't quite agree with however others may feel the same as you do and therefore they can still find the post. I feel like a real genious now. Ha Ha Ha. Keep posting. Take care

Well it depends solely on you... if you want to give tags or not. If you dont give tags to your discussions you might be on the losing side.. coz if you give a tag , and someone is looking for that particular topic they your topic will be displayed and you will get a response.. so creaete as many tags for your topic .. but the tags should be on topics and not strayward...

After reading some of the other responses I'm starting to believe that using tags can benifit in a major way. So what I'm going to do is start tagging the entire post how about that, let's see what happens then. Maybe someone will feel that my post are important then. No I'm just kidding but alot of these responses are conflicting but they all make sense.

Tags are optional for your posting.
You can do skip if you want fast posting.
However, the value of tag exist and we can not ignore that
as it is there for some special connection.
It's helps to connect all mylot users making our connection
indirectly.

I don't think they are necessary .. well MyLot would make us put them in if the were necessary, but they can be very helpful because when you do a search all the discussions with that tag will be listed .. so it can help you to get more responses to your discussions ..
I generally pick 3-5 of the most important words in my discussion and it really does only take a few seconds to do ..

Tags are important as they would help to bundle the discussions in categories and would enhance searching and placing into respective categories of interest. It is more from the point of view of indexing and hashing. I think you should always attach a tag to your discussion.

I agree but after hearing some of the other opinions I guess they do somehow serve a purpose. Anyway I still see no excuse to put tags on responses. or maybe I'm just being narrow minded because someone, somewhere on earth may really be interested in searching replies

I see what you mean. I don't always tag either. I think it is a waste most of the time. Just because you tag doesn't make your discussion or response any more important than anyone elses. Personally I feel like a tag is like this tagged if you do tagged if you don't lol

Yes, I think it's helpful if you really do want to promote your discussion or a topic. Because some people just search their topic of interest through tags and keywords. As for the worth of a discussion, I really don't know how they calculate our earnings.

You actually have the most common sense answer I've seen. I think that is what it comes down to just following the rules. A lot of people just want the money, but if you get wrapped up into that you are going to really lose substance. This isn't a job, this is something that you do for fun and you just happen to get paid for it that's all. So have fun, discuss things and get paid in the process.

OK so let me get this straight if there is no tag used the n you are telling me that noone will see my post? that doesn't make any sense I thought these things were aranged by category. Anyway the real question is does not adding a tag effect your rating or bring down your current earnings. I guess this is a question that noone can answer.
