What's a home?

I was sitting in the car with my mom today, and the subject of home was brought into the conversation. A large majority of the students at my university go home for the weekend to their families. In watching these college students of varying ages heading home, we decided to discuss the idea of a home and the meaning of home to each of us.
What is a home to you? What do you believe makes a home?

I have never looked at home in that manner that the quality of home depends on the quality of a person. It is a refreshing idea. I'll have to think more about it.

Home is where the heart is. I know it's a cliche statement, but it's the truth. Where is it that you look forward to coming back to after all of your hard work and sacrifices are done? That's home. For some, it's with their parents. For others, it's their own house, or the house that they own with their spouse.

The saying is quite cliche, but as you say it does hold truth. That opinion was the one that my mother took on the situation. That home is where you feel the most connection with family and friends. She took it a step farther than yours as to say home is where you feel the most comfortable and safe.
