What do you think about introducing another million people in Sydney?

The NSW government is talking about accommodating another million people in Sydney by 2020.
Our city is bursting at the seam with traffic congestion. All the tollways have been built... but the traffic is growing as fast as the tollways.
We have a huge water shortage. At the present time our water reserve will only last another 70 weeks. And then you have 4 million people without water.
The government does nothing... except praying for rain.
The drought is only one of the reasons for the water shortage. The dam was built for 3 million people. Not 4 million people... and much less for 5 million people.
Sydney used to be a beautiful city 25 years ago. Today it is turning into another Los Angeles.
What do you think?

Wow, andother million people. Where in the hell do they think they will put them all? I lived in Sydney in the early 70's (I know, a long time ago) and it was a beautiful city of just over 2 million then.
We lived in the western suburbs (Baulkham Hills) which was just a few streets with some houses, a small shopping centre and a couple of schools. Dad used to take us down to Curl curl beach on a Saturday (is it still called that?) and we'd often visit friends in other parts of the city some Sundays.
I couldn't imagine it looking like LA, that would be such a shame.

I can assure you that you would not recognise the place today if you have been away for 30 years.
I have been living here since 1970 and I find it difficult to find my way around the place as they keep changing everything with their new tollways.
The State Government will force councils to build high rises to accommodate another million people. The days of the quarter acre block are well and truly gone.

That would explain why all our friends deserted Sydney quite a few years ago and moved up the coast, some even as far as Brisbane. Quarter acre? They were selling third acre blocks back then!!! I bet the average bloke couldn't afford a concrete box up in the air nowdays.
Mind you, here in southern Spain its gone construction crazy in the last few years - more cranes on the Costa Del Sol than in the rest of the world put together, so they say! My place is up in the hills about 15 miles inland, but I bet the developers will be casting a greedy eye on that before very long.
We also have a major drought problem - and the Costa is expanding faster than the reserviors can keep up, so I know how you must feel in Sydney.

oh!! seem like you feel so bad. amybe the government are expecting for more water supply in the next years thats they are confident enough to accomodate another million people. i know you are afraid of water shortage for it is very hard to live without water. maybe all you can do right now is to conserve water on your little own way.
