Best responses...why do people choose before everyone can reply..

I've been reading a lot of discussions, and I'm getting extremely frustrated. I noticed that a lot of people choose their best reponse before anyone can even respond. I think there should be a rule about that, because people don't wait for everyone to respond. And it really makes me not want to respond because I know that nothing that I write will be considered as a best response. Have you felt noticed that too or not? How long do you wait before you choose?

I don't post topics, but when I do, I will take the advice of the posts I have read here. I have not yet been given a best response vote, and will be honored for each and every one I get.

I pick a best response whenever I feel like it. If I think someone has given a best response, I choose them. Otherwise, I just wait. I still have several discussions where I haven't chosen a best response. I also have chosen a best response on several almost immediately and wished I had waited a bit. But after waiting a week or more with no further responses, it's best to just go ahead and choose one. Don't give up, just keep responding and your response will one day be the best one. Good luck!

I don't really worry about being the best response when I respond. It's nice if I am, but I don't lose sleep over it if I'm not. Sometimes I will pick a best response out of just a few responses if the discussion has been up for a month and still not many people have responded. I usually do give at least a week or 50 responses, whichever comes first.

I do not worry either if I get the best response. I feel honored if I do but if not, that is okay with me. I enjoy sharing my opinions and hearing what others have to say. I am here to have fun, have nice discussions and make a few bucks on the side.

I try to wait for atleast a few days, but sometimes I do pick one that comes in from the first since I really think the response is great and deserves it. =) I have seen people just choosing their friends and their friends choosing them...

I choose a best response on a very varied basis. If I read a response that automatically strikes me as a "wow" type response, I give it a best response right there, for being the first to really strike me or grab my attention. However, I also wait a while on some responses. Though, I can't say for certain how it will continue, as I just joined yesterday. But I'd like to think I'll wait it out so that those who really deserve the "best response" get credit for an amazing reply

Hi, I've read the answers in this discussion and yours makes most sense to me strawberrymudd. Can I ask a question here? It's my first time (yes...a virgin) and what is meant by "best response"..is this part of the criteria for posting a message?

I am about 2 days new to MyLots. Thank you so much for bringing this up because I really never thought about this. Now when I post a discussion I will allow users 2 days before I post the best response because I think that is a perfect amount of time. I would like to give credit to the best response. :)

Personally I think theres to many rules and besides that its up to the person who started the topic who gets best response not the posters.

I've noticed that a lot of people choose the first responder as their best response. I don't know if it's because they responded first or they think that no one else will respond or what. It's kind of annoying. I usually either wait a while or if I really like a response, I'll go ahead and give that person best response. Know what I mean?

I've noticed that on some occasions. On others I noticed the person who started the discussion NEVER chooses one. It always bugged me a little, but I don't really think about it. When I have a discussion, I usually try to wait a few hours, or if it's late like now, I wait til the next day before choosing the best response on my post.

If I remember correctly, Yahoo!Answers makes you wait at least 24 hours before choosing the best answer. This makes sense as it allows 99% of the people who are going to answer answer.

I chose someone's response as a best response on the first day I posted a discussion. I didn't know more people would be responding days later. I'm new to this and am still learning. So now I wait a while before choosing the best response.

Yes, I have felt that. Especially when I go into a discussion and see that the first person was awarded with best response just because that was the first or only person. I understand one if grateful to that one person that responded. But it does not mean that person is worthy. So, personally, I wait until I know the discussion is dormant. And even then, if it has been dormant for a while and I am not happy with any response enough to award a best response, I will still wait until I receive an response that Wows me. :) That is the whole point of best response...right? And trust me, I have some discussions that are old and still do not have a best response chosen. LOL

I also think there should be a waiting period before you can choose your best response, maybe at least 3 days. If I have something to say, I will say it anyway. I forgot about choosing a best response until today. I went and did a bunch today. I will try to do better and do mine at least once a week.

I try to wait at least a few days before I pick a best response. I hate people who start a topic and within four hours they've picked the best response. It drives me mental.

I usually wait between 5 and 7 days to allow for more choosing best responses, however I try to rate daily on each response to a discussion. I've kind of gotten into a routine so that I don't miss anyone. Honestly, I have to admit that I have gone to some discussions that already had best response chosen and been disappointed, and then there are some that everyone has pretty much covered much of what I would have to contribute if that is the case and I don't think my response will add much - sometimes I move on. But I have noticed that my energy level can dictate some of that "why bother" feelings and I just need to take a break :)

hi, im a newcomer here and i noticed it too..would u believe me if i tell you that i already know about this site from my friends but it just took me 2days ago to made up myself to register and be part of this site. i understand what u feel, i think most of the people here dont wait for everyone to reply on their discussion maybe because of the first batch of responser,he/she already found that striked him the most.. please dont let urself be droop by ur frustration..who knows one of these days someone would mark ur response the best one.. and if from the past responses uve made, were not rated as the best,i think all that person where u made all ur responses has been moved by it contents..isnt it great to make them feel better? so cheer up!!!

Hmmm..but how would you really know when EVERYONE responds? There are how many users on here? And really, not all of them will respond. I usually wait for 4 pages or more, then choose. But whatever works for you is best.
