Bob Hunter, a pro-environmentalist and anti-establishment radical, started ‘Greenpeace’ in 1973 with a handful of friends. He was then in his thirties. In their famous ship called ‘The Rainbow Warrior’, they thwarted plans of many countries to dump nuclear wastes into oceans, or from conducting nuclear tests on remote pacific islands (Great guy!). Today, it is a multi-million-dollar-funded environmental organization, with branches in most advanced countries. Similarly, an impeccable gentleman named Henry Bergh started a crusade against cruelty to animals in America by founding the ASPCA (American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Today, its branches spread across the length and breadth of America. Thirdly, I personally admire conservationists like Gerald Durrell, who died in 1995 – 96, after a lifelong saga of saving animals from extinction.
What is your opinion? Which do you think needs priority? Why?
