Will another book surpass the Harry Potter book series' success?

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I often wonder if there's a possibility of another book surpassing the said series' success. I know Eragon has a tinge of the Lord of the Rings...but will there ever be a book that'll talk about magic, youth, spells and the like and embrace the world as much as and even more than the HP series has?

I certainly hope there will be a book that will come close or even surpass Harry Potter so that I will have another story to look forward to when the HP series ends. I will never forget Harry though, he is one of a kind... ;)

That's a good take on the matter. Yes, I agree...it'd be nice to look forward to something else after the HP series' finale.

I'm a huge fan as well and have enjoyed the series although I'm really curious on the last book and how it will turn out. I'm sure in time there will be another book or series that will gain as much fame. I doubt it will be within the next few years but it will happen eventually. Just the way things go.

I'm sort of torn between wanting a book that'll surpass HP's fame and not wanting it =/

i dont think so;the Harry Potter series was a perfect mixture of everything that adds up to perfect entertainment; i'd like to see a book compete with that.

I certainly hope something comes out sooner or later that meets the Harry Potter or LotR stands, but I won't hold my breath as I can't imageine it *laugh*. I haven't read or seen Eragon yet, but that's definitely on my to-do list. I'm dying for the 7th Potter book, but also really nervous since she keeps getting darker as the story progresses. I think I'll cry when it's finally over lol. *sniffle*

Yeah, I guess so. I wonder what the "theme" or topic of that next craze would be. I'm guessing nobody really thought that a book that talked about magic and spells and the like would make an amazing mark in the world. Thanks for the reply =)
