If I could keep only three books for whatever reason, I'd make sure that I have The Bible, The Alchemist and - choosing the third book is going to be pretty tricky because all the rest are almost on the same level - maybe Waller's Bridges of Madison County. The first will remind me of how Jesus lived, the second, of how sense of humor is important; and the third, that falling in love, is a beautiful experience.:)

1] If I only had three books to keep for the rest of my life, I think the Bible would have to be one of them. I am not a strong Bible-reading Christian at this time but I would still choose the Bible.
2] Then I would want something to read for fun. Perhaps a romance or mystery. I like the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum mysteries so I think that I would choose one of them. Probably one of the later numbers like 9 or 10.
3] Then I think that I would want to have one of my favorite horse books that I read as a kid and that I now have as an adult too. I bought a copy of it and I keep it close. It brings some good memories back plus has beautiful pictures of horses in it. I think that I would pick Afraid to Ride by C.W. Anderson. That's one of my favorite horse books ever but I would choose it just because I love it AND because it has awesome illustrations. Otherwise I would have picked The Grand Rogue by Frances Priddy because it's my absolute favorite horse story of all time but there are no pictures in it.

I've been trying to answer this question forever it seems.
1 - My Quad (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants and Pearl of Great Price)
2 - Knitters Almanac by Elizabeth Zimmerman
3 - The Deed of Paksenarion by Elizabeth Moon
Seriously the hardest question I've had a chance to answer since joining MyLot

I would definitely want to keep my study Bible as it can help me through any crisis. And of course, Gone With The Wind (which I have read many times over. The last one would be either Franklin & Eleanor (life story of the Roosevelts) or The Godfather.
