How do you define love?

"Love is the condition in which another persons happiness and well being are ESSENTIAL to your own." So what do you think? This is the most accurate definition I've ever come across, and as far as I'm concerned, defines completely what the state of love actually is. Do you agree? Disagree? Have your own definition that makes more sense to you?

I love your definition of love. It is putting that person before your own wants and desires, and not feeling like it's a burden, but a happiness to do this. That is a great post, and I am going to rate you a + for it. Thank you.

I gave you best answer moreso because ... from what I can tell, everyone attempted to make more of this than there was, and only attribute it to a love relationship in terms of couples, leaving out the emotion a person feels for their children, parents, friends, etc. Love is not confined to one type of relationship, and there has to be a basis involved in defining it ... I think the quote did that. When you cannot be happy unless the other person is happy and healthy, then it's love ... all other complications aside. Thanks for the response :)

Love is patient and love is kind. Love is forgiving, love is not prone to anger. Love makes you the best of yourself to someone. It's the most reason you want to live longer.

Definitely I cannot disagree with you since that is the crux of the love. However I would go a bit extra and would add real love is mutual sacrifice ,understanding and appreciating each other.

If you're talking about love in terms of specific confines, yes. However, I wasn't. I was talking simply about 'love' ...the emotion as is. I love my husband, and that requires mutual sacrifice, understanding, apprecation and all the rest. However, I also love my children, and that relationship does NOT require mutual sacrifice in the least. For the very simple emotion of love, I think the quote fits. When someones happiness is essential to your own, meaning you cannot be happy unless THEY are happy and healthy, then that emotion could very well be defined as love. That fits and transcends into every love relationship, whether marital, children, extended family, friendship, etc.

Love is needed no teaching at all. Before love ones, you have to love yourself first. Love can be made into one. Love is blind. "Love" is much more profit than "hate"

Love is a basic dimension of human experience that is variously conveyed as a sense of tender affection, an intense attraction, the foundation of intimacy and good interpersonal chemistry, willing self-sacrifice on behalf of another, and as an ineffable sense of affinity or connection to nature, other living beings, or even that which is unseen. It manifests itself in feelings, emotion, behavior, thoughts, perception and attitude. It influences, underlies and defines major patterns in interpersonal relationships and self-identification.

'True love' is something like a wet cement. Once you stay on it, it's hard to leave and even if you try to leave, you will put a mark there 4 ever. Love is a feeling where affection and care takes the centre stage and there is no place for other things!!
