I have seen programmes on telly where people have trained their cats to do certain things. I would like to know if anyone trains their cats to do "tricks" and do you train them the same way you train a dog??
What tricks do your cats do? and how did you make them do it?

Interesting how the cat known for its independance can be willing to learn tricks. i have two cats, Brothers but far from similar. One is a very heavy built staedy quiet docile animal who looks every inch a boy. the other is a svelt, sleek, and lithe speedy and sensuous unpredictable little smarty pants and you would certainly think that "he" was a "she" alongside his Brother.
Well the "she" has always exhibited a smartness that the other just doesn't. This year age two, the smart one taught himself to stand on back legs at the front door and reach up for the handle, and rattle the door handle for all his worth as if someone were desperate for entry. He manages to make quite a racket when he wants to come in. This is no mean feat, and I could not have taught him to do this ever. If he were a little stronger he may well be able to open the door for himself. Fortunately he is working at his absolute limit.
We do not encourage this, and have never allowed him entry as reward for his efforts. I think this is extraordinary.
