Yes it would have to be Jonty Rhodes . Currently, I think Paul Collingwood from England is the best fielder around . Also Gibbs from South Africa is sharp and brilliant at times. Ricky Ponting, the Australian captain is a brilliant fielder and this aspect of his is overlooked sometimes, due to his batting brilliance. And definitely there are Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif which are the best fielders in the Indian Cricket Team ..

With out any doubt it is jhonty rhodes.Because,he is the one one who has started the trend of feilding in the air with spontaneous dives. He is the one who made audience feel that even feilding is as exciting as batting or bowling.

ya my friend it is true. Jonty is the greatest fielder of all time. He changed the views of the teams and suddenly every one started searching for a good fielder from their domestic level. Jonty was a revolution in the history of cricket and he was a real athelit. His flexibility was just amazing. He was able to anticipate where the ball is going. I loved watching him diving full lenght and stopping the sure boundaries. He has saved half of the runs on the field and even 20 runs saved can change a match. He was a real genius in fielding.

Of course it is Jonty Rhodes who would fit that name of best fielder of all times. Who will forget those greatest catch and the famous run out he did while in the air in the 1992 world cup. Those were still etched in my mind. Jonty Rhodes changed the cricket being played with his histrionics in his fielding and he changed the way people used to look at cricket. After his period only, the game of cricket has found many athletic players who dive and slide to catch the ball on the field, which itself is a great thing to watch apart from watching the batsman and bowlers. There were many good fielders emerged after him but still I feel that he was and is the best among them.

On the global circuit has to be Jonty. But I see Yuvraj and Kaif matching up to him in many occassions. Truly, they are also world class.
