Here's a tip about having your friend notification turned ON

Open a gmail account and make that email address your mylot address. Gmail has a feature that keeps all messages from the same person in one message, it simply ads each new message to the bottom, so when you go to view it, you scroll through each message and click on the ones that you want to respond to.
My notifications from mylot friends come as a separate discussion for each friend. For example:
(subject)Johnsmith started a new discussion on mylot! (3)
(subject)Suesnow has responded to your discussion "why are snails slow" on mylot!(10)
The number in parenthesis after the subject line tells me how many emails I received with that same subject. When I click on the email, it will show me all the responses to my discussion, or all the discussion that Johnsmith started.
This is a great way to keep your mylot friends organized and makes it fast and easy to be a good mylot friend by responding to their comments and new discussions.
I hope I explained this clearly. If you have further questions, just post them here and I will explain. If you need an invite to gmail, just send me a message. I don't get anything for giving them out--so this isn't a request for referrals.

I have a gmail address already and this is a great hint. I have only been a member for about 4 days and I am beginning to receive so many email from mylots. I anticipate it will only get worse or better, depending on how you look at it. I may just change mylots to that address. Thanks so much for the tip. Does it matter what address I use my paypal account for? That is how we are paid on mylots isn't it?

I use a different email for paypal. When I entered it, there didn't seem to be a problem, so I'm sure it's fine.

thanks a lot for your information. I have noticed the good feature of Gmail, but I have not related it to mylot.
What you said is very clear, and now I know how to do that!
I use yahoo mail now,but it hasn't that feature. so it is not easy to find if my friends have started a new discussion.
unfortunately,I can't try it now because I can't login Gmail. The internet conncetion is still bad, I have not checked my Gmail for about three weeks. Really bothering!I will have a try as soon as I can login Gmail.
Thanks again for your useful tips!!
Have a good day!!

Hi Perry. If you need an invitation to gmail, just send me a message with your email address. If you're not comfortable doing that, ask your friends if they have gmail and get an invite from one of them. Thanks for responding :)

Have you seen responses to comments made on discussions? (I hope I'm making sense. Like if you responded to this comment would it show up in my inbox.)
I find it easy to comment, but difficult to maintain an ongoing dialoge because I don't know when people respond to commments, and I can't seem to respond back to responses.

No, responses to comments notification isn't offered by mylots at this time, so gmail wouldn't help with that. Sorry.

I hope you're not saying that I'm giving out false information, friend. I get nothing out of this, other than 1 mylot point for starting the conversation.

Thanks for that piece of information I have a gmail email account but have not used it alot. I have been thinking about using it more often how ever. I am still using my yahoo account I may have to do a pop to send all my email there instead. I didn't know you could do something like that.
