I think if your eyesight is getting weak then it the cause of any other thing. Because i am working since 10 years on computer and everyday at least 8 hrs. I have not got affected yet.

i think so, because of the radiation of the monitor of the computer, it could possible give a bad effect in our eyes..specially, those people who always infront of the monitor, and doesn't have any protection for the eyes..sometimes, my eyes get hurt and i can feel the pain, knowing that i'm only stay for 2hrs in front of the computer..we need to rest our eyes because it's one of the important parts of our body..

I think i have affected my eyesight after i have start working. When i was an university student, i don't have to wear a spec, but once started working 9-9 working in front of a pc, my eyesight is getting bad.
We all know that we shouldn't stay too long in front of the pc, but some of us just forgot the time when we do our work or enjoy your pc games with our pc. Thus i have a habbit of drinking a lot of water while i am in office, thus it will make me travel to toilet every 20 minutes, and i will use it as a break for my eyes.
Try this, it's good for both your eye and your health since u r drinking a lot of water.

Take breaks while working on computer -- Get your eye sight checked as you are feeling that your eyesight is getting weak.. I used to soak two cotton pads with rose water and apply them on my eyes -- and I lie down on bed for atleast 30 minutes.. It relaxes me a lot :)

well the best ways to keep your eyesight is to hear good, here wat i mean to say, whenever u are on your pc or lap.t u wont feel stressed out if you listen to your favorite tracks, u sit to the pc whole day 12hrs minimum, but i always keep on tracks on, and periodically take breaks , look here and there, etc etc, the best thing is to keep the monitor in your place where u can do multiple things together, like on your study table, dont make your pc a isolated place to work, let it be your friendly partner, try tis it works :)

I am using my computer from 10 yrs. approx. with 5 hrs. daily. But even now i have not any spactles. So how i can say that it is very rare chances that eyesight will be effected by computer.

I know that too much time at the computer may reduce your vision but it just starts happening after a really long time using computers.
For me, I stand in front of the pc for 3-4h a day and never had eye problems because of it until now but it may happen to me someday as well.

I spend around approximately 4-5 hrs on computer ...presently i dont have any side effects..but in long term i would definitely have as my profesion would also require me to be encircled with computers for atleast 9-10 working hrs...considering the precautions ..
1..protective screen which u already have
2..decreasing ur monitor intensity or resolution can
definitely help
3..taking intermediate gaps of 5-10 minutes and washing ur eyes with cold water definitely help!!!

Hi limvyjain,
Yes,computers will eefects on eyes.Better you put filter secreen and should not continously lokk in to the screen for a long time. you should give the rest to eyes and don't work in dark.Try to take rest minimum 6-7 hours.

Yes sitting in front of the monitor for more than 50-70 minutes results in a considerable amount of eyestrain leading to weak eyesight.
Would suggest you not to look to keenly on the screen all the time. Even if you can not help sitting for less than 3-4 hours, make sure after every 30 minutes, you get up or make your eyes see something else apart from the TFT screen. I have one Question, do you use a TFT or a LCD screen, check and let me know. IF its TFT, try a LCD one, you would feel the difference yourself. Also, make sure that you are atleast 20-22 icnhes away from the screen.

yes ,computers do have bad effects on your eyes..Actually i suffered from some disease called as computer vision syndrome...what happened was i used to look at my computer screen all the time and according to doctor ,our eyes get dried up when we continously stare at he screen..the lubrication inside our eyelids are affected by this,so we will find it very difficult and irritating inside our eyes..
What we should do is ,we should giveour eyes proper rest, that is we should not continously look into the screen for along time,we should give rest to the eyes in the middle..say after half an hour of work we should give our eyes a rest of 5 minutes.,then again go to work..
Another thing is that we should not stare at the screen,we should frequently massage our eyes slowly with our hands which would be better if we place two pieces of cucumber on both eyes..that would provide a cooling to the prolonged used eyes.we should blink our eyes frequently.
Then we should not work in dark ,that would increase the strain to our eyes which should be avoided.
Another thing is that if possible we should wear some eyewares,or specs so that tha strain can be reduced..such type of glasses just to extra radiation from the computer screen is now available in the market.
LCD screens would be better than the tft screen..so better use a LCD screen, though its costlier.
Always use the brightness and contrast of your computer screen reduced and avoid any llight sourse from behind the computer screen..
if you follow all of these instructions then there would be no problems for your eyes for sure.

Hello people..
Yeah, i have recently been affected too.. i feel a burning sensation in my eyes.. and during the day too i get this..
I just start waering spectacle.
Precautions to take are:
- Decrease the brightness/contrast of your monitor. I saw that these were too high. Another thing you can do is, to tune their levels until you see your eyes are comfortable enough.
- Dont spend countless hrs infront of your monitor. Your eyes need rest. I wont go into details here since jithinsb have already elaborated so nicely on this.
- dont hesitate, go asap to see an optician. This will definetly help!
Greetz!
