yes i know
its full name was microcomputer software
it was the company which made softwares for microcomputers.
this was the basic job of microsoft.
once bill gates addressed it in short as microsoft and from then on its name was changed from microcomputer software to microsoft.

Sorry but Microsoft was never registered as "Microcomputer Software" it was however first registered as MicroSoft or Micro-Soft which was a combination of the two. The name Microsoft didn't become a registered trademark until 1976.
It was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in order to develop and sell BASIC programs / interpreters for other companies IIRC.
