its a bbc show, therefore it'd funded by the public purse via the daft television fees

I would pay my license fee for Top Gear alone. In fact, when we renew it, I think I might attach a note that says my money is only to be used for providing equipment for the Top Gear lads to crash, destroy, burn, drop caravans onto or fire into space. No groundbreaking documentaries for me thanks!

well, going by the last show , on sunday, it was mentioned quite a few times that they had paid £1200. for each of their cars. and they had to recoup the money by passing various tests. ( to be honest i think the best test was the hand brake test. who can forget the clouds of steam of wahtever surrounding clarksons car, or the hamsters car sweeping backwards so dramatically) but seriously , i know we pay for the good old bbeb( thats the bbc to our overseas readers, but isnt it worth it just for the amazing programme we get every week. i love the prog and would rather watch a weeks worth of top gear, rather than the boring soaps or reality shows. and yes i have a caravan , and an old rover. so there.

Like flex90 said :] Top Gear gets most cars for free ( sometimes they have to cheat a little bit - for. ex. This Rover based on Tata test) and they get money from licence fees :]

Top gear would ask the car company for a demo car for free in exchange for worldwide publicity but its funny because half the time they give the cars hell and discuss how sh1t they are
