Will Mankind Die Out Before We Evolve

I want to know what people think. I believe that its a given that mankind will evolve...eventually, into something more than what we already are. But at the same time, I think that we are killing each other at an alarming rate that will probably increase before it decreases, and I'm not just talking about war. I'm talking about the way that we poison ourselves with every day things.
Will we die out before we get a chance to change?

Interesting question!
I do feel we, humans will eventually kill our selves out if not come very close to it. We have so many factors to look at. Biological chemicals are one fate. I think there are several countries that may still be developing these, including the US. If not developing them, at least storing them because they have no way of destroying them. One "accident" will cause unthinkable amounts of deaths.
Then there is the fact for every disease we cure, it seems we create another one in the process. Viruses mutating to combat our antibiotics is one example. Then there are returning diseases we thought were long gone, like polio and TB. If I am not mistaken just those two are on the rise again.
Now we can look at the pollution problems, finding a place to live with clean air is becoming a task. Thanks to cars and factories, we are back to again, seeing the air. The water we are drinking is beginning to hold more chemicals in it than a small science lab. I believe these are a huge contributor for some cancers.
There are so many other things. I could go on and on, but time is short. So to sum up my opinion I say this, I do firmly believe, the end of man will come by the hand of man.
Great Discussion!

Thats what I'm saying. I agree wholeheartedly. Mankind is mankind biggest threat. We are killing ourselves before we have a chance to truly, truly shine.

...and our own negatives.. cuz we're all very much imperfect... and there's the same number of good and evil throughout all groups, races, etc, religions, etc.. seems to me 'free-will' is the root of all evil! But what else do ya got? Robots? [The new debate in scientific circles is, "where does information come from?" -- like dna, which was unknown of in Darwin's day..

Evil is a very relative term. What is considered evil by one culture may be celebrated in another. I personally consider anything that is detrimental to another persons life as evil...unfortunately, given that you cannot please everybody, then that means that damn near everything we do is evil. There is nothing that benefits everybody...as far as I know anyway.

We haven't evolved up until this point, at least not in the Darwinian sense. So I'd say yeah we will die out first since there's no reason to believe that will evolve in the future.
