Best way to deal with telemarketers is to start asking few question back to them asking question how did you get my number? Why did you find this time to call me? so some basic questions before they start. In doing so you send the message to them that you are not interested and they wont like to continue also.

we must be lucky up in the north we just say not interested and please take me off your list. if they call back after you said that you call the police and have them charged with phone harassment. they can then loose their phone service and to a business that sucks...

My sister worked in a telemarketing job for a while, she has said the best way to get them to stop calling is say that "you are not interested, will you please remove me from your list." It has worked well for her and myself as I get very few telemarketing calls.

I handle them as I get em. If I am in a good mood I will be polite. If I am not or they call at supper time I am very straight with them.
And if they annoy me too much I will just put the phone down without hanging and go do something else.
I have mellowed a bit since my start working at a call center.
I think my attitude also has to do with the very first words out of their mouth. I either remain calm or get ticked.

i have worked in of those special call center. it´s the biggest and greatest f***job i ever did. i have to work 8 hours. in this 8 hours i had to call 200 people to add zest lottery lots. it was so frustrating. if you have very much luck 10 people had buy. but i had days i sold 2 lots or just 1. i did this job just 8 weeks. it was horrible. and if somebody call me for selling some lots i´m also saying no.
