why people tend to be mean?

i never understood why people tend to be mean when they could simply be nice or just not show any interrest. what do you think?

well...it is hard to tell...but we are humans and we all have evil inside ourselves...

Sometimes a person could be in a bad mood, or depressed. Or maybe they just don't like people. It could be any number of reasons, really. And some people are just always in a hurry and their responses can come across as being mean.

Well they think as they know everything and try to act oversmart,over confidence always governs them i suppose...

sometimes, its a defense mechanism. others tend to be mean to prove that they are straight hiding the fact that he/she is really having identity problems.
