making a song

i do compose songs..on my part when i make one i tend to just let my feelings do most of the part..i mean i dont really focus on the lyrics or the music yet, i just let my emotions flow. it just comes.its like instantaneous. its just that when i focus my mind ie, on the lyrics, i tend to lose control of the song. i like it free flowing.. how bout you guys? how do you do it??
