If you were a supervisor in charge of making sure the product was a quality product but your supervisor undermined your people decisions while letting you have responsibility for the actual work, would you quit and find another job even though you are a 59 year old female?

If you are too the point where you might quit your job you have a couple of options in my opinion:
You can suck it up, button the lip and just deal with it so you can avoid any drama or losing your job and having to deal with the crap of looking for another one.
You can go to his boss with your findings. You may lose your job once your boss gets wind that you went over his head to get him in trouble. If you are prepared for that (you were going to quit anyway) then that shouldn't be a problem and it may actually fix the issue for your other co-workers in the future. Who knows, maybe you won't get fired and the problems will be resolved.
You can go to your boss who is taking all the credit and let him know how you feel. You might not be employed at the end of the day but if you were going to quit then that is no big deal. It probably will not fix the problem but it will let him know that he is not fooling anyone and that you are speaking for the other employees who also think it is not right.
Many options to ponder, just pends on if you want to deal with the fall out and reprocutions of confronting the problem or if it is not worth it.

Thanks for your input. Boss is female and best friends with personnel manager. I do all the physical part of the job and the paperwork because she doesn't know how but she allows me no authority over the five people who supposedly work for me. Anyway its just a job and I'm really good at ignoring certain things so there won't be turmoil. Thanks for letting me vent.
