About how many books do you have in your house?

Well over a thousand in two big book shelves plus more piled on the floor and in boxes. I've been buying books for myself since the late 60's and I have rarely given away or sold any so they just accumalate!

hi there, i have a similar collection. about 6 almirahs full and then those 5 boxes. between my son and myself, we end up collecting. he has asimilar lot of them. difficult to part with. guess that's the treasure i'll leave behind for my granchildren.

Well I have around a 1000, actually whatever I read I dispose it of to my friends.

Wow what a question. If I run up stairs to start counting i won't be back for a day or so. lol The floor of my attic is full of books (still waiting for my bookcases to be built). There's a pile in the kitchen, some more in the bathroom and quite a big pile in our bed room, That's without the kids books (they seem to be catching up on us, although that's not a bad thing)

I have hundreds of books in a fairly small condo. We installed bookshelves all over our walls, over doorways and such so we would have enough room for them. I can't necessarily reach them, but they are all over.

I used to have a giant collection... however, I got rid of a lot of them for lack of space. Now I keep my favorites, especially my collections of series... someday I will have thousands again!

I wish I could afford to collect books the way you do. I have about 100 of my books here, and hundreds of my grandmother's books are at my mother's housel. After my grandmother passed away I inherited her books.

I have a problem with books. One could call it an obsession or book addiction, I guess. I have been accumulating books since I was in the 4th grade and now I am a middle aged adult. For a couple of years I even sold books online but no longer, now the books are all mine and they don't go away unless I make myself get rid of some of them. Unfortuntately I have to get rid of some of them simply because there are so very many of them. The house is full of bookshelves lining all the walls of all the rooms. It's a three bedroom house with a bonus room, living room etc. That's a lot of shelves and each one is full of books. Then there are boxes of books in the house, in every room of the house, stashed here and there so we can walk through. This brings me to the two sheds in the backyard. Both sheds are full of book shelves and boxes and boxes of books. At a conservative guess, there has to be at leasat 30,000 books, possibly more in both sheds and the house combined. This is way too many and I am weeding through them a little every day as I have been for the past couple of years and getting rid of A LOT! It's very hard for me to get rid of books because I want to keep them all. I love books, they're like good friends that you visit whenever you read them. But it's a bad thing when your addictions take over your life, even if it's books!

There'd have to be at least a thousand, and I've had many more. If the world gets hit by an asteroid, I'll be fine...

i have never really counted but if i include the encyclopaedia and stuff as well,i must be having at least a hundred!

I think i have more than 200 books in my house.

I wish I knew the answer to this question. lol I have a bookcase full of books in my room, and in the living room I have a bookcase full of them too. I could just count those and get a number, but that problem with that is I have boxes and boxes of books in my car port. Apparently I can't throw anything away!! Just yesterday I was going through some boxes, and I noticed I still have books from when I was in high school. What I need to do is round up all those old books from my childhood and donate them to my local library.

WOW that is a LOT of books. Most of the books in my home have never been read. The ones I do read, I try to hand off to friends or donate, because I found them worth my time. The others.... are sitting there... for a REALLY rainy day :)

We have a lot of books. We have 3 book sheleves full and 5 or so moving boxes full. I would not be surprised if we have over 500 books.

Oh my gosh. I could even begin to guess. I'll say though I probably have about 100 to 150 on my bookshelf in the house that I haven't read. and probably anywhere from 200-400 outside.

I wouldn't know where even to begin... I run an online bookstore, so there is over 5000 books in my spare room. As far as my personal collection goes, I'd be up to nearly a thousand at a guess. Because I can read the books I have listed on my site I only collect books that are first edition or sets of books. I have to be tough with myself or else I'd never sell anything I've bought!

We have alot but I think you might have us beat. We have 5 bookshelves and about 20 midsize boxes stored away in the attic. I couldn't even guess how many books this all includes. We have one bookcase that is really deep so there are actually two rows of books on each shelf. The shelves are warping from the weight. We also have quite a few sitting on the floor near the bookcases. I keep saying we need to do something about this situation but I have no idea what. We don't have a good place to add another bookcase.

I am horrible when it comes to books. I litterally have hundreds of books. Probably not quite close to a thousand but I certainly have enough.

Oh wow, I don't even know how many books we have. I bet it's close to 1000, because when I moved in with my husband most of the boxes I had were full of books, and he started out with a lot of books as well. Reading is one of my favorite activities, and I've collected many books throughout the years!
