Mother has terminal lung cancer. I am her sole caregiver. Im on personal leave from walmart to take care of her. Anyone know of any organizations besides, American cancer society, welfare that can help, as my mother gets 50.00 a month in food stamps, and we are from West Virginia, and I have exhausted all avenues. Going to loose the only thing I owe on which is my car. Please, any suggestions. Would be appreciated.

Maybe you should, talk to a Social Worker about your Mother. Do they have visiting nurses in your area?

In the state of West Virginia you must be on medicaid to have visiting nurses. I am her caregiver. We are just having financial problems, and we are wiped out, and I cannot afford her diapers or her 18 pills she is on a day. I have gone to our two churches in our area, and they have built a wheel chair ramp for us, and i get food from the food bank once a month to help us.

Try to find out about the Peregrine Society--if there is a chapter in your area. They provide assistance to families of cancer patients. I looked on the website for the one here in St. Louis. They offer up to 60 cans of nutritional supplements per month, $150 per month towards prescription medication and also adult diapers. It is based on need, but it sounds like you should qualify.

Thank you for your response. i have checked into hospice, and they will send someone for 30 minutes a day, once a week, to take mothers vital signs. I already have hospital bed through her oxygen place as she is on o2,24/7.

Thank you. I work for Walmart in Princeton, West Virginia. They have been so good to us. They paid two of m car payments, but it still ended up being repo. They Have helped with mothers medicine. two of our managers bought 700.00 worth of meds out of their own pocket to help me. I am financially wiped out.

I can not offer much help in the way of organizations other than Hospice for help with her care. My mother also has terminal small cell lung cancer. I have found there are sources available for providing Ensure and Carnation Instant Breakfast free if your mother is having trouble eating solid food.
