Migraine headaches are caused by the restriction of the blood vessels in the neck. I have suffered from them since I was 9 years old. They get so severe that they cause vomiting, and extreme sensitivty to light.
The best thing to do is to put a ice pack on your neck to help slow down the blood flow and stop the pounding. Ice pack on the eyes help as well. They used to prescribe ibuprofen, but now you can get that over the counter. It will be more effective than tylenol, because it's a muscle relaxer and will help releave the pressure in your neck as well.
Lay down in a dark, quiet room and sleep it off it really the only thing you can do about it. There is nothing specific that causes these headaches. It's a heredity infliction.
