I reside in Chicago. Up north here, winter last for almost six months a year and our outdoor activities are minimised. We do go for skiing and ice skating but can't do it all that often as they add on to the expenses.
It restricts us to plan a one day or weekend trip/outing coz' every week its not possible to fly to a warmer location and driving doesn't make much sense in this weather.
Another thing i noticed is, we put on a lot of weight coz' not much physical activities can be done. Please give in your inputs and i would definately appreciate it.

I can't imagine how it is there...from the past few days due to this Winter Blast half of Texas is frozen and that is very unusual weather down south! It started off with heavy downpour and now has come down to sleet and frozen surroundings. Its very cold outside and am glad I don't have to go out today. It's true we tend to become very lazy and prefer to stay indoors. But that's winter for you!

I Kinda feel good here, since its just cold outside, we can atleast drive easily, since there is no rain. I know! Rain kills the plans of going out.

My daughter spent one year in Chicago on a missions trip. The group she was with had extremely limited budget. I know they did activities at the church that sponsored them, and had parties and rented videos and walked to parks a lot. You are right, winters seem very long there.

I know, I have friends in Canada and their plight is more bad than mine. Thanks for responding anyway, take care.

I'm from Toronto Canada, and we pretty much suffer the same weather as you do. If it were not for the dogs I probably would just hide inside during the winter months. Sorry I can't be of much help, but I'm more of a summer person, I can sympathise with you.
