Katabasis(nown) A retreat ,especially a military one. One the cleverest military strategies is Katabasis.

The word Katabasis has greek origins. It means 'going underworld'.It is often used in greek mythology It also means going from the interior towards the coast . Another word Anabasis means expedition from the coast to the interior of a country.
