dragonriders

I was surprised to see only three people, including myself, have read this book. Especially given the number of people who use dragon in their names. This book is the story of a society dependent on dragons for protection from an organism that eats all organic matter from plants to people. It is not a horror story and while it is set on another planet, the society involved is very reminiscent of renaissance times or Camelot. If you truly have an interest in dragons, you should read this book. I'd be willing to bet you won't stop at the first book, but will be scouring your library and bookstores for each and every other title in the series.

I read some of this series about 15 years ago. I think younger dragon fans may just not have found them since there haven't been new books published in the series in a long time (that I know of). They are very good books, Anne McCaffery is one of the more famous sci-fi/fantasy writers, and wrote many good books in the genre.

I thought I had read all of the books in the series, but now I have found her son Todd has been allowed to write in the series and has one or two books out.

This was a great series. I love Ann McCaffery's work. I do admit I didn't read all the books in the series especially the harper and other trade ones but the Dragon Riders I did. I loved how everything all came together. This was one of the few series my brother pushed onto me that I loved. He has a tendency to bug someone about a book and until you read it he will continue to bug you, usually our tastes don't mesh but this series they did. I would recommend it and most of her other work as well. I recently read where they might be making a movie out of it. I hope they do

I've always wanted to see the movie version but I never wanted them to make the movie. Because I was afraid it would look too cheesy. However, in the last few years, special effects and CGI have improved so I think they would be able to do it justice. I would sure love to be part of that production. If done right, I'm sure it could rank up there with Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings.

I've read the series and must say I loved them. With the way movies are going lately I wouldn't be surpised if they did make it into movies if the right people picked it up. Goodto hear her sons taken over the story. I'm going to have to go look forthe newer ones. P.s. her To Ride Pegasus series is good too.

I have read all the books in the series and I love them. I enjoy the series so much and I am glad that Anne's son, Todd McCaffrey has taken over the job of writing this series.
