Well Kathy, It is never too late, maybe one day you will have an opportunity to come to Barbados. You really would meet a lot of friendly people on this side of the world and I am sure you would enjoy your stay:-)

I've not been to Barbados but, I have been to Jamaica which I loved! I liked that there was so much to do and see aprt from the obvious choice of seeing the gorgeous beaches!! There is quite a lot of history and fun things to do - we did the canopy tour up in the hills and that was so much fun!!!

I have been to Jamaica, and absolutely loved everything I saw, heard, and tasted! I have never been to Barbados, but it is on my list of places that I do want to experience!

I went to Barbados last summer and absolutely loved it. We stayed at the Barbados Baptist College in (I think) St. Barts. I really fell in love with Harry Smith Beach and the serenity there. I felt like it was just me and the ocean while I was there. I, of course, didn't get in the water there but the old abandoned house was so beautiful. I took many pictures. I am already trying to plan when I can go back!

I have never been to Jamaica but, have been to Barbados more than enough times to actually consider it home. A friend of mine for the past 33 yrs has family there. Since we have been friends for so long, her family is my family. When I visit, I do stay in The Gap or Christ Church somewhere, but I always rent a car so, we can go visit the family. So, we do travel outside the tourist area. Even though I myself, am not Bajan, I represent Barbados to the fullest! If I ever were to hit the lotto, best believe I will be relocating to Barbados. Bottom line, if you haven't guessed already, I love Barbados!

I have never visited Jamaica although I have had many opportunities to. But I have been to Barbados and fell in love instantly. I enjoyed it so much... it was home away from home, so I vowed to go back one day. The people are absolutely incredible...I felt right at home.

I love Barbados. My husband is Bajan so we have been a couple times. Once to get married (and meet the family) and then for another family wedding. We are making plans to go back soon so that my son can meet that part of the family too! We always make sure and head out to Oistins for the fish fry! Barbados is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I know most people that go stay within the resort community and don't see the realities of life facing the people serving them their drinks (depending on where they live on any given time they could have been going without power for a week.) Of course a simple local bus trip to Bridgetown would give a tour of some of the poor living conditions. I am in no way saying this to take away from Barbados, the land and the people are both beautiful and if I had the means to live there I would. I do however wish that more people took a look at the whole island beyond the tourist spots etc. I hope you are enjoying it as your home, I sure miss the ocean with water that you can actually see thru lol! (please forgive the rambling I have a toddler jabbering in my ear as I type ;) )

I am a Bajan, Born and Raised. Flying fish, cucoo, peas and rice, pudding and souse, sugar dumplings, sweet bread and mauby. I am a big fan of Montego Bay, and since I live in Toronto, where there is a large JA community, I do have a number of close friends and colleagues who are Jamaican. I enjoy jerk pork and jerk chicken, curry goat, patties, cowcod soup, escoviche fish, stew chicken and Wray and Nephew White Rum. Dance Hall Reggae, Mr. Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Lady Saw etc. Irie.

Surprisingly, I've been to Barbados once as a child; My mom used to take us with her to her home island of Dominica, and we had to stop in Barbados once; we missed the Liat flight into Dominica, so they paid for us to stay in a hotel there; Very interesting; I didn't get to see much of it; Also my paternal grandfather was born there, and we never went to see where he came from or anything because we don't know that much about him sadly. At present, I am working on a project to get MyLotters send me postcards from where they are; I sure would love one from Barbados; Hope to hear from you.
