40 years in Aviation

I grew up on a small farm in north eastern NC, about 35 miles line of sight of Wright Brothers location of first flight, Kitty Hawk, NC. In my young years we had a Navy blimp base near by and several military installations not very far away. As a young teen, I was intregued by aviation and had the disire to fly. had a relative that was crop duster and was excited to see him at work. I started taking lessons as a young man and got my license. Joined the USAF and spent 20 years with them. Retired and went in aerospace industry as fied engineer and continued on to the airlines and avisation maintenance fields. I've flown and worked on many aircraft over the years but never lost the thrill of smaller light aircraft from homebuilts to about the size of a Cessna 210. The smaller aircraft are truely the way to enjoy aviation.

i olso want to fly some day. if possible to flyght the plane. and i want to fly the parachute. i belive it is a great experience.

Beleive or not my first experience was with a parachute on the sand dunes of Kitty Hawk. In those days, 1950's a few of us had access to a surplus parachute. It wasn't useable any longer to use as a jump chute but we used it as a glider or sorts. The prevaling winds along the Eastern Coast of NC and the large dunes made a perfect location. We would let the wind chatch in the chute and hoist us up. They were short airal rides of only few hundred feet and maybe a few hundred yards but was fun.

amazing that after all this time, you are still in love with flying, i think it is great that you have kept your passion for it, and what a small world, i have seen the city of kitty hawk, i used to live down in wilson, nc, what a great state, please keep going after the things that you most enjoy, our life is so short, so you should always enjoy ever minute of it, thank you for sharing this with us.
