noisy neighbour problem - advice needed

I have started this discussion after seeing one started recently about noisy neighbours. My discussion is slighlty different in that I have a real dilemma and don't know what to do. I really need advice on this one.
I moved into my new house ten months ago. It started by a strange noise coming from next door, like a clapping sound. It wasn't very noisy so me and my partner ignored it. However the noises started getting louder and louder until one night our neighbour was doing what sounded like throwing himself against the walls. The clapping noises sounded more like him hitting himself and he was shouting things like 'I'm going to shoot you all down (with gun noise effects)' and 'it only takes one bomb to blow this house down'. Obviously me and my partner were very concerned. This has happened a few times since and I have had to bang on the wall to stop the noise.
The problem is I found out yesterday that he is a teacher in a local school. My dilema therefore is this. I am so worried that if he is fantasising about shooting people and bombs whether I should report it to someone or on the other hand as he is doing this in the privacy of his own home and I can't actually see what he is doing, just going by what I can hear should I leave it alone? I would hate for anything to happen and I didn't act on it. This is genuine and I really need advice. What do you think I should do?

Well, he may just be playing video games, but I would still report the incidents. The fact that he is a teacher would concern me enough to report it just to be on the safe side.
The other thing you could do is knock on his door when you hear the commotion and say something like, "What game are you playing, because it sounds like you are totally engrossed in it!"

The only problem with that is that if he's not playing games and then I report him he will have a good guess it is me, even though he probably would anyway as I am his neighbour. Thanks for your advice.
