My husband and I didn't have our parent's blessings....We eloped without anyone knowing. I was 19 and my husband was 18 so we just made it to not need parental consent. My father wanted me to have it nullified, so he could give me a real wedding and walk me down the aisle of the church, but it was too late. Our families are so different, we wouldn't have been able to please both sides and make everything work perfectly. So after eloping, my parents put together a wonderful reception for my husband and I at their home and invited all the relatives from both sides. It was very wonderful for us.

No I am married and have been for almost 36 years now. At that time it was essential to get parental consent, i.e. they had to sign the papers, because I was 20 and the legal age to get married without parental consent was then 21. It is now 18 though. :)

My parents used to suggest a lot of girls with photographs and other details. In our community, itis all arranged marriages. I use to refuse just like that. Later on I chose one, but then I brought the parents of the girl to meet my parents and they mutually agreed and the marriage took place.

how i wish i could at least do that. he he he anyways, im too old to really get married and have a family of our own but still we are saving, me and my fiance. so this question means it doesn't really suit me. but i hope nobody would do such stupid thing as not letting your parents know and without their out most blessings for you both. we must always respect our parents and they are far too important to be left out.

i wouldn't exactly say that we don't have my parent's consent..but they don't really approve. they don't feel i should marry so young - i'm nineteen. but his parents are completely 100% supportive of it and are excited for us.
