Well I never watched the older shows of Doctor Who. I only just started watching them last year with the newest seasons. Out of the two Doctors I've seen I prefer the current one. He seems very comfortable in the role. He keeps things light and has a humor with him where as the one before always seemed to be forcing it. He also knows how to be serious without being a downer.

Hi, I've been watching the Doctor since I was a kid in the 1960's. I do remember the old guy with the long white hair from back then, but I like Tom Baker the best in the role.
The Daleks don't seem to have changed much since the 60's but the aliens look a bit more convincing now than the painted rubber diving suits they used back then.

Well, as far as the old doctors go, I think I'll always be partial to Tom Baker's Doctor, and not just because of the scarf. :) He played it so wonderfully - such a combination of brilliance and fun. As for the new Doctors, I've enjoyed both of them, but I must admit I have a huuuuge crush on Christopher Eccleston, so I've got a soft spot for the 9th Doctor. :)

I agree I like tom baker better as the doctor as he fits into the role as the timelord perfectly.

For me, I always have a soft spot for Tom Baker. Even though I wasn't even born when he had his turn on the show his was the series that was screened when I was growing up.
The story about his scarf is that the BBC gave a little old lady all of this wool and said "knit a scarf for the show" so she did...using every scrap of wool they gave her! That's why his scarf can be wrapped around his neck several times and still touch the floor.
Out of the new doctors though, it's really hard to tell. I'm a little sad that David Tennant didn't get to use his real accent for the show. Does anyone know why that is? I'm sure Russel has his reasons!
I was a huge fan of Christopher Eccleston before the Doctor and I think he did an amazing job bringing him back, but David Tennant has kept up the job admirably. I think it has to be a tie.
