Should the members be ranked or the discussion or maybe neither?

When they first appeared we all got an alert that MyLot was going to be a popularity contest. Now in a short period of time some who have bragged in offsite forums have systems in place to elevate their rankings and lower other people's rankings. So the game begins. I just want people to know I go to discussions that attract my attention and not the ranking number. No offense but there are some out there with ranks elevating with three word responses and poor discussions. I give my approval by acceptance in my friends group and checking my friend's discussion column. I think the rankings are are an idea with good intentions but with bad results.

That's horrible that people are doing that and then bragging about. Unfortunately, with every site, there are always going to be a few bad seeds. The majority of people here seem to be helpful and want to do the right thing. The reason I like the rankings is because it gives people the incentive not to post complete drivel everywhere, because they will end up getting a low ranking, thus not as many replies to their discussion. Hopefully all the honest members will pull together and make the rankings work like they should.
