I'm not exactly an expert on that topic, but I'm assuming that anything is possible so far as the asteroids hitting etc. Now as for our technology being great enough to defeat something that size, well, that's one I really don't know. I'd like to hope that we could achieve something like that for sure, but hopefully we will never have to find out if we can do it or not :)

I guess anything is possible with space, many smaller rocks hit the earth every day but most burn up in the atmosphere to a very small size, one day I think a bigger one will come and it will be like Armageddon when they try and stop it.
