WE JUST GOT A NEW PUPPY FOR CHRISTMAS. A NINE WEEK OLD AUSTRALIAN SHEPARD NAMED STAR. THEY ARE LIKE HAVING A CHILD. BE PREPARED FOR POOPING IN THE HOUSE, TAKING TO THE VET EVERY MONTH, WHINING, CHEWING, GROOMING, BATHING, SOCILIZING (PEOPLE AND DOGS),N CRATE TRAINING AMONGST OTHER THINGS. PICK A PUPPY THAT IS HEALTHY. ONE THAT WILL FIT INTO YOUR LIFESTYLE. ARE U ACTIVE, CALM, BUSY, HOME OFTEN? THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH TIME YOULL HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF A PUP. REMEMBER BIGGER DOGS NEED LOTS OF ROOM TO EXERCISE. I HOPE ALL GOES WELL FOR YOU. GOOD LUCK!!!

Congratulations on getting your new puppy as I am sure it is loving you and your partner. I bet it is very cute and is very active. Puppies are so adorable. Make sure though when you make a comment you put your text in small letters and not caps. All cap letters tells people that you are yelling and someone on myLot may end up reporting you to myLot. Just a helpful hint. :-)

Puppy's are nice, only if u have genuine interest for keeping pets. There is possibility of lot of time being lost on them.Bbut if ur a genuine animal lover then its better u try it.

I think it is a good idea if you both take care of the dog since it is your first time I think its a good idea rather than doing it on your own you have the help of one another. I would go to a shelter because you can help an animal in need and have a loving dog to care for. Best of luck!

How exciting! I wish that I was home enough to be able to have a puppy. They require a lot of work and attention in the beginning, especially. I have always liked small dogs. We had 3 dachshunds (wiener dogs) as I was growing up, so I am partial to them, and that is what I would get if I were to get a puppy. I'm sure that you'll pick the perfect one; it sounds as if you're taking your time choosing, which is good.
Good Luck! Post a picture of the new family member when he arrives!

A dog is a great companion who will be with you for about 10 - 14 years if you are lucky. I know by experience that a really small dog is not a great choice with kids, they get jelous, they get hurt easily and they require a lot of care. Long hair dogs need hair cuts, short hair dogs get cold. All dogs should go to the vet for shots, get fixed etc.. You have to live with the dog so it is important that you pick one that is family oriented. If you don't have a yard then a walk or walks will have to be done. All sounds great when you don't have a dog but I guess what I am trying to say is it is a responsibility. Just prepared to have to do stuff with the dog. I agree with someone who made the comment about a mix breed dog. I think they make the best pets, but that is just my personal opionion. I had a lab and I barely survived puppy hood, took a year of playful, chewing but he was the best dog we ever had. Great with the kids, loving and gentle. But you need to spend time with it or it will become a frenzyied animal always needing your attention.

i would recommend a yorkshire terrier, they are very sweet and quiet too. mine id called jack and he is 6 mths old. we keep him indoors and he sleeps in the utility room at night. he loves a walk and is afraid of nothing . i also have a boxer who is a big darling but its hard to beat a tinsy wee dog you can lift in your arms and cuddle.

Hi
I welcome this idea only if you can support the puppy for its lifetime, since dogs get attached to us very soon and they will not like to leave us (and we too, of course). I have a puppy at home. It has almost become a family member now. I cant even think of getting seperated from it. Even he cannot live happily without us. So it will become a lifetime bond. Think and act. Only if you are prepared for this do buy one. Else dont. I actually opposed buying a doggy, but now I cannot imagine a life without him. He comes with us for everything from shopping to even attending functions sometimes, though not often. Dogs will become mentally afftected if you are going to leave them in the middle for some reason. All the best...
