Male dogs are never in heat if you mean how long are they attracted to females are really anything that won't run off pretty much until they are neutered .
Female dogs go into heat or season every 4 to 8 months usually every 6 months but it varies .They stay in season /heat for around 3 weeks but this again varies from dog to dog . The first part they are not receptive to breeding then during the second phase they are after then in the going out time they are not receptive . Males well always approach a female but a female dog well not be receptive to a male except during that short window of time .

How old is your male dog? You should really get both of your pups spayed and neutered. It'll keep them healthier, and your male dog will stop trying to get at the female. :) If money is an issue, check around for a low-cost spay and neuter program. And get some sleep!!! :P

thank you for this information yes i figured that about the male wanted to be sure my dogs are driving me nuts the male wont stop barking because he wants to be with my female who is less than a year old but in heat im losing sleep not good lol they are an unexceptible couple so i am trying to keep them apart until i can get the male fixed

The male dog is always in heat, just like men :D

The male is ready whenever a female is in heat. The female is usually 3-5 days. The male will still try to mate even after she goes out of heat, but the female will stop him herself. No need to get involved with stopping them, they are so independant when it comes to this. As long a s amle can smell a female in heat he will be in heat also.

My 2 female dogs went into heat every 6 months until they were spayed. And 1 stayed in heat for about 4 weeks and the other about a week. My male dogs are always wanting it, lol :)

We have two yorkies, a boy and a girl. The bot boy is neutered, the girl not. She comes into season every 10 months roughly and it last about a week and a half. I feel so sorry for the boy when she is in heat as she pesters him constantly. Although he can still do it, he doesn't know why!!!
