should marijuana be legalised????

recently , some groups have started a movement to legalise marijuana....some legal petitions have also been submitted to the courts by them....their point of argument is that it is a 'soft drug', it apparently has medicinal properties and it supposedly is less harmful than nicotine or alcohol...what are your views on this??
