Thats exactly how I feel about a hand quilted quilt. I miss my grandmother very much and when I am quilting it feels like she is smiling down on me. She was a great person.

I don't think the same quality is in the machine quilting. My mum thought me to do hand quilting when I was young, and I enjoyed the endless hours of making my own designs and stitching all the pieces together. I still do hand quilting and the good thing about it is, I can sit in my favourite armchair and relax and watch tv while I am stitching.

I agree, the monofilment thread they use is always coming unsewn and you have a time fixing it. Yes hand quilting is very soothing and relaxing for me as well when ever and where ever I choose to do it inside or on the front porch.

I've never quilted by hand, only using a long arm machine, so can't speak on that with any authority. But I can say I do appreciate the hard work it must take to do it by hand, and if you are making something as a gift, I think it would be more appreciated if it were hand made.
I know you can't post photos yet (neither can I) but would love to see some of your work when you hit that magic number 500.

Yes for me it takes a little over a month to quilt a queen size. But I enjoy every minute of it. I have never used a lon-arm nor have I quilted by machine se we will definetly have to swap some pics that would be cool.

I was never taught how to hand quilt. So I machine quilt what they call a puffy quilt. My mother, My sister in law and I made 20 puffy quilts for christmas presents a few years ago. They are really pretty. I would like to learn how to hand quilt someday.
