The scholars of Islam have already declared that Islam is a religion of peace and brotherhood. Infact no religion teaches bloodshed and terrorism. The problem is with the erroneous followership. the extremists -- who have mis interpreted Jihaad (holy war) with their personal grudges and revenge with the western world.
Islam totally accepts and respects the western world as equally as any other community of the world. but the misled muslims who have turned into extremists are spoiling the image of Islam.
The holy Quran says that thee is no sin greater than the sin of punishing/killing the innocents......

To find the answer, let's twist the question a bit.
"Are all terrorists Muslims?" And keep in mind that the word "terrorist" are relatives, which means the meaning can be different from different point of views. Always remember for them to be called terrorist, there must be another side who accused them as terrorist. In general terrorist are they who bring terror to someone in particular.
The authority of Sri Lanka accused the Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam as terrorist. Are they Muslim? No.
Brighton hotel bombing in 1984 are one of the terror by the PIRA. Are they Muslim? No.
Remember Shoko Asahara, founder of Aum Shinrikyo in Japan? One of their terror is the gas attack in 1995 which killed many civilians. So, are they Muslim? No.
Remember the bombing of Air India Flight 182 in 1985, killing more than 80 children? The main suspect of the case is the Babbar Khalsa, a Sikh separatist group. Are they Muslim? No.
Remember Timothy McVeigh, a person responsible for the bombing of Oklahoma City which killed around 160 civilians in 1995? Is he a Muslim? No.
We all know Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime during World War 2. So, is Hitler a Muslim? No.
These are just some of the examples, there are many more. So the answer to the first question are, nope, not all Muslims are terrorist. :)

what ever is going on in west about islam is planted, cultivated, cooked ups. after the u.s.s.r. the imperialist west need another enimy to unite the unawere (in a way handicapped) people of the west to boost thier very agenda of exploitation. they just eyed the oil and began slowly putting the muslims in the other side. then comes all lies.

Most people know that not all muslims are terrorists. However, it scared a lot of people after 9/11. Naturally, people are going to be scared of muslims. It's sad but there are quite a few terrorists out there that are Muslim.

and what you mean with terrorist? people that bring fear and destruction to another? and how about army that bombing schools and hospitals. and bombing and burn a village just becouse they think enemy leader hides there?
yes some of my bothers do such a disgrace action, very sad.
but not all of us doing that action, that true.

I think a lot of American media is very biased in favour of Bush policies. For example. a great many people in the US believed that Saddam Hussein was responsible for the 9/11 attacks which of course made them lend support for his invasion of Iraq. Any person with the slightest bit of insight knows very well that Saddam and Al Qaueda were never in cooperation with each other, Saddam was a secular leader and religious minorities such as Christians, had protection under him, even though he was a tyrannical despot. So Americans tend to follow their leaders and believe Fox/CNN too much.
However I don't believe that American Islamophobia is any more pronounced than the American-phobia or Western-phobia held by a lot of other people!

It is wrong of you to think that everyone in the vast amount of people in the western world and america all are islamophobia's. I think that is sterotyping people. I was always raised and believe that everyone is a person no matter race, creed or color you are. No matter where you live or who you are there are terrorist out there of every nationality who need to be stopped. You do bring about a good question though.

Thanks for your response,i was born in the united states(Though my Parents are from AFRICA),i know the level of apathy here for the average muslim with beard,i have friends who will not enter a bus with anybody with a turban and a long beard.

yes bro! you're right... there are terrorist in the muslims community... there are also terrorist in Christian community... and the same thing in the Buddha, Hindu and other religion. It depend on manner... However, US government used their medias to tell the world that they will only found terrorist in the muslims community. This is happen to the world now.
